Hi Eve
I have been looking to get into manufacturing for a while now but I don't know how it works, what to do, where to start
If anyone could lay it out to me simple that would simply be delicious
I am a miner in a Mining Barge so I should be able to supply the materials on my own, if that matters

Greetings,
Check out the posts that are stickied at the top of this sub-forum. When I was starting out I did a lot of reading into BPOs BPCs and the such....and there is a great wealth of information in those stickied posts.
Basically though, do your research into the market you want to enter...and train Production Efficiency to at least 4, if not 5!

Hey there,
manufacturing isnt all that difficult once you get the hang of it.
Basically you need a blueprint (BP) and some skills + the minerals and a facility (can be a NPC station or your own POS) to build.
skills that would be usefull are industry, production effeciency as mentioned above and mass production if u want to do more jobs at the same time.
The blueprint will provide you with additional information you need, like what minerals are needed for building the item and possibly what skills are needed.
the most important thing though is finding a blueprint that can make you some profit. The market keeps changing so you some items that are profitable now may not be so tomorrow. This means it will require some research on your part to see what the production costs are and what the sell price is.
A lot of people arent going to tell you what items are profitable since it will mean more competition for them. A good place to start looking for a good BP though is ammo, and items that you use yourself. Once you get into the market you can take it from there and find new blueprints to manufacture.
If u have any more questions u can contact me ingame I'll be more then happy to help you out, though I wont be active untill the weekend though, cuz im not at home right now.

If you need a profit tool for your manufacturing venture. Check out www.eveindustry.co.cc. Takes into account your skills/items/minerals and gives you a profit margin. Simply does all the hard work for you.
Hope this helps.

That tool makes the assumption that one is purchasing on the market all materials needed for production.

Edited by: Ms Delerium on 21/04/2009 17:27:20 Realize many industrialists sell below build costs, cause they think minerals they own mine are "free"
This is totally wrong, as you could just sell the minerals and get more profit. And I am talking of people adding sell orders for end products, below mineral buy order prices... moronic!!!
Also notice selling minerals to max buy order is instant and 100%sure isk, while adding a buy order is *possible* and delayed isk (orders take a time to complete, and competitors may undercut)
Show info on BP and calculate minerals costs. If you see morons selling below it, dont buy the blueprint and search another one.

Which is what you should be assuming to properly assess the opportunity cost of building vs. selling raws. If you can't make a profit buying everything you need to make an item at lowest sell prices, and selling your end product via sell orders, then you shouldn't be making that item.
