Edited by: Bom Bommer on 21/04/2009 12:53:22 Hello o/
Some EveMon users reported (here and there) problems when querying the training API but only for some of their chars, while the other ones on the same account are queried without any trouble. One user also observed the problem with that same char on inEve.net, two users also got errors with those same chars with the Battleclinic's API test. Again, those users were correctly able to query the API for their other chars. Finally, one also observed the problem on two different machines.
The API seems to return "A general error has occurred, please try again later". Actually, the user report was unclear so I'm not sure whether it was what Battleclinic reported or what was written in the API XML file but the API already displayed that same message in the past.
Is it a bug, or is it intended, possibly caused by a few characters' skills being queried within a very short time span ? If so, what's the limit and what should be the delay between two queries, please ?
We would appreciate if you could give a look at the problem, thanks.
PS : By the way, the API for the character's training (or skill queue) sometimes return an incorrect startSP when a partially trained skill was placed in the queue (not on the top) and resumes while the player is offline. I already filed a petition for that but other community devs could be interested to know why their applications go crazy in some cases...

I am also having this problem where the Api returns skills for my same account alt but not for me.
Interestingly enough I am also discovering that old api keys are still working, but only for my alt, no api keys work for me. |

This one is an EveMon's bug, not a CCP one. |

I am also only able to currently get character information on two of my three characters via the API.
I checked the missing character on the Battleclinic API test page. My alt does display on the Characters on Your Account test. However, when I check the Skills for a Character test I get the message "A general error has occurred, please try again later."
She does appear on my character selection screen in the EVE client (I can also log into her just fine). Could this be some kind of error on the CCP database? It has been going on for nearly a week now. -- Meridius Dex Visit the Gunship Forums --

Edited by: EveOrg on 23/04/2009 01:11:02 This appears to be a CCP API problem, not EveMon. Hope this helps...
I currently downloads 500+ characters worth of data from the CCP API on a regular basis. 23 are returning the following for charactersheet and skillintraining XML calls.
Quote: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?> - <eveapi version="2"> <currentTime>2009-04-23 00:35:09</currentTime> <error>A general error has occured, please try again later.</error> <cachedUntil>2009-04-23 01:35:09</cachedUntil> </eveapi>
Can't see a pattern to the failures. 5 are on account main characters, the rest are spread between 2nd and 3rd chars. It affects directors, non-directors, characters of all ages, in player and NPC corps.
My logs show this all started just after 00:00 EveTime on 17th April and has been consistantly recurring since then. In the couple of hours before that time numerous timeouts were logged against failed calls to the API.

I have this problem with EveMon and EveMEEP, same character. Other character on the account, and other accounts, come through fine.
I am having trouble loading portraits however.

Combat drone and astrogeology respectively on each account. thought it might be EVEMon, reinstalled and now i skill get it on one of my characters, and the other no longer gets anything updated. ------------------------------------- Read my bio ingame for tips on how to live and not be called nasty names by me. |

Edited by: Vested Interest on 24/04/2009 00:15:57 I seem to have fixed this on all affected characters by starting a skill training and then requesting an API update on each.

I did something similar. I started a skill training on the messed up charcter, and it updated fine. But my other char on that account didn't update correctly. A question: Do your malfunctioning characters have skills in their skill queue? Both of mine did when I had the problem. Removing the queued up skill on the non training account seems to have fixed the problem. We will see if it returns.

Ah, that fix worked fine. If your character has a skill in his training queue without training anything. Another character is training for example. It will not properly get API data from any characters that have it. Well taht the curretn fix for me. Until then its a bug. ------------------------------------- Read my bio ingame for tips on how to live and not be called nasty names by me. |

Agreed.
I had some skills queued for training but not actively training on the char that was generating the error. When I went in and removed them from the queue I was able to retrieve API information with no problem.

Same issues for me here. I've been getting a steady stream of emails asking my why their character sheets are not showing the data they expect. It's getting rather annoying to have to tell everyone that this is not a problem I can do something about, but rather a bug in the API.
CCP, could we get some sort of a response on this please? It's becoming quite irritating to say the least.

Just wanted to follow up that I had to empty the paused training queue on the affected characters to get the fix to stick.

Edited by: Ozeth on 07/05/2009 01:57:42 Corp mate of mine had the same problem there is a bug somewhere with the api system.
Try this, Clear your training Que and stop all training. Go to your skill tree and and start a skill training. Go to the api site and click on "create new limited access API key". Retrieve your new API and plug it in.
I don't think you need this step but my friend did stop all his skills, created a new API then started training and repeated the last steps. Post if either of these works.
Hope this helps.

This worked for me as well. I have a petition open with CCP about this issue (no response thus far). I'll point them at this thread to hopefully speed things up a bit.

The skill queue has been a bit naughty in its infant weeks, sorry about that and thanks for your patience. Currently we have a problem with queues that have been paused, we've been seeing some of those errors popping up in our logs and will hopefully have a fix deployed in the next few weeks but in the meantime: please don't pause your queue for too long. If you have to pause for longer than just to e.g. plug in an implant then it's better to clear the queue completely.
As for the wallet problem, that's a different one. We're fixing it now, and we'll hopefully get that deployed today.

im having the same problems that others are reporting in this thread, however i have had them ever since i reactivated my account last week, before i have even set up a skill queue. my account had been inactive since the start of janurary, before the skill queue was implemented. what i want to know is if the problems i am having due to the api reguarding my previously inactive account as having a paused skill queue or is it something else entirely? ______________________________________________

I was having this exact same issue. Clearing the training que on the affected character fixes the problem.
