I bought a new graphics card and the sun is crazy blinky in some occasions. It is highly annoying and gives me a headache.
What settings do I change to turn it off?

Install latest drivers? (Not the one on the cd you got with the card, but downloaded from their site) _

I have this too, ATI 4850 with catalyst 9.3. I only have this if I play in windowed mode though. -- The future is black.

Bug report it then, attach dxdiag and a good description of what is happening. _

Does the situation change if you turn "sun is occluded by ship" option in the graphics options?

Try changing in graphics settings the preset interval to "interval one"
Helped me with ship model not displaying.

Are you trying to force anti-aliasing outside of the game? Doesn't play nice with HDR and makes lots of celestial objects "flashy". I'm running a 4870 and with the defaults, I don't have any issues, but trying to force AA on in CCC was nasty.

They "fixed" this a long time ago... but its back, i saw it the other day. seems to happen around a certain FPS.
If i go over, it goes away, or under it goes away.

For all ati users: 1. Go to catalyst control center. 2. Disable Catalyst A.I. 3. ??? 4. No flickering and slightly better fps. The downside is you can't mix hdr with aa when it's disabled, but who needs hdr.
