I can't even block the scammers out now because the rate they 'humanly' post at is quicker then I can 'humanly' right click block them.
Can we get a limit here, or you know, better macro detection?

And don't forget to minimize "local" while in Jita. If you're at war, chances are somebody you're at war with is in Jita anyway, and lag kills, so you shouldn't be in Jita to begin with. So you might as well minimize local for all the good it can do you (none).

Not only that, you can't click on the contracts either; I've tried, it's pretty much down to luck whether you get to look at their fancy collection of 9s or not.
The scam itself I've got no problem with, but the spam is out of control. |

Really, if we have limits on contracts as to prevent scammers posting a billion scam contracts, then whats the problem in implementing a limit as to how many messages per time interval can be sent in public channels? CSPA service charges? You know, unless CCP introduced Contracts and posed a skill limit on it just for laughs.

They just need to limit the number of times a given contract can be linked to in local per minute.
I'm thinking about 0.2 would be nice.

The only reason scams are so rife is because they work.
Rich idiots are too damned stupid to notice that cents don't come in triple digits. So... to be honest - don't hate the players... hate.. the players?

I'm not myself a very regular visitor to jita (usually my business is done in smaller tradehubs, such as hek)
But on rare occations im there and i must agree, it IS a problem. And yeah you can always minimize local and turn blinking off, BUT that only ignores that there is a problem, it does not fix anything at all, so 60-90% of the "answers" in this thread is useless.
We have a contract system for a reason, and it is easily searchable sortable and arranged with a wide range of options.. so why not just forbid excesive or linking at all in local everywhere... -- Diplomacy is the art of telling someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip. |

The problem is that the more you let it go on, the worse it is going to get. Eventually the flood of spam will become so bad, it'll be lagging people out and causing disconnects, nevermind the standard jita lag. |

I don't know how macros work, but if they disabled the ability to paste links, or paste anything for that matter, into the local chat, would that not help?
So that the only way you could put something in local chat is to manually type it in. Don't know if that can be done or not. |

I agree that it should be dealt with. While I fully support scamming, it does give an edge to the game, this is just absurd. Countless macros spamming it 23/7.
Obviously some people will say, close local... problem is, I like Jita local. There was always something going on, while it wasn't the most interesting thing in the game, it's actually a neat way to pass up time, chat up with the locals, get to date with recent EVE events and browse legit contracts that would pop-up every now and then, even with all the raven and "zomg, leaving eve! I'm giving 10x isk back!!!oneone..." scams, it was actually still pretty decent. And best of all, scammers would have to try to convince us they were real, yeah they were all fake, but it was fun just for that fact. And this was what? Only few months ago? Now the amount of fake contracts being spammed is ridiculous and, yes, you CAN'T block them that fast.
The obvious solution here is to limit the amount of contracts one can post, i.e. 1 per minute, but it can have several contracts linked in it. Sellers, scammers that aren't macros, will all benefit from it, the only one who will be hurt is those people who tend to spam contracts, like Blue Macaw from the log. |

Some good ideas brought up here. I'm all for limitations on contract linking in public channels. I don't ever see a time when one would need to throw up 20x contracts constantly unless your spamming. Which, is why we're here to end that. I have a search function in Contracts. And I have the Sell Orders forum to browse for them aswell. Thanks.

All they need to do is add the amount as a name like they do with even numbers. So 499,999,999 would say (499 million ISK). Second thing they need to add is add the ability to see what you're transporting with a courier contract. Lastly instead of using different colors for pay and receive they need to make it more clear whether you're paying for something or getting paid for something.
Those 3 changes would make contract scamming a lot harder and reduce the amount of spam we all have to deal with.

The contract scam basically follows the same ordeal with people listing market orders with ******edly high prices in hopes someone clicks through on say, a shuttle. Really the whole 999 contract ordeal is simple:
If they're offering it at 200k, and it ends up being any number other then 200k, don't accept. Simple. Hell its like in real life. "Car for x ammount, but in reality it ends up being y ammount." Just a fact of life that they'll try to hit you for every dollar your worth.
I just want the flipping spam to halt. |
