Does the probability of successful salvage increase with the number of salvagers you are using? Or, is the chance the same with one salvager as with more than one?
Thanks

Chance is the same per salvager. Its like trying to roll a 1 with one dice or multiple dice. You just get multiple chances at once.

you get the same chance per salvager- 5%(for a salvager 1) * 5 (if at lvl 5 of salvager skill) 7% (for a salvager II) * 5 salvagers percentage chance do not stack- though rigs precentage chance stacks with itself and is added to the chance of whatever percentage you get with your salvager

OK, if I understand what you are saying: Two salvagers increases the chance of a successful salvage per cycle, because you have two chances to succeed with the salvage instead of just one? And, three salvagers increases the chance of a successful salvage even more?

Probability time: if you have Salvaging IV and no rigs or implants, you'll have a 20% chance of getting salvage from the wreck per cycle. If you put 2 salvagers on it, the actual chance is 36%. Basically it goes like this: you have an 80% chance of not getting salvage per cycle, so the chance of not getting any salvage with multiple salvagers is .8^(number of salvagers). With 2 salvagers it's .8^2 or .64, thus giving you a .36 chance of successfully salvaging. With 3 it's .8x.8x.8, or .51, thus giving a 49% chance of salvage.
A single salvager with 3 Salvage Tackle I rigs will give you a 50% chance with the same skill level in salvaging. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

Plus having multiple salvagers means you can salvage multiple wrecks at the same time, which speeds things up.

^^ That.. But whats not being said in these calcs is that the random chance of success ( It's random...by chance).
Now some1 tell the OP about the randomness calc'd by cycle time and when the OP can expect a successful salvage result from Salvager 1..2..3..4.. etc.

There is a base access chance on every wreck that you neglect to mention. The percentage listed on the salvager is not the "real" chance you have to retrieve salvage, but just a bonus that's applied to the base chance given to any particular wreck. T2 and faction wrecks, for example, have a very low base access chance.
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |

And it worths mentioning that the chances also depend on the size of the wreck (although I don't know the formula). I salvage most of the frigates/destroyers/cruisers wrecks in one cycle only with one salvager, salvaging level4 and 3 salvage tackle rigs, but usually I need multiple cycles for battleship wrecks.

I'm going to break this down for the non math brainacs one slavager gives you 5 chances out of a number to hit out of a 100. So in this case imagine a big spinning wheel with 1 to a 100 then you pick 5 numbers and you spin it after its done spinning and you respin your chances are the same you just get to pick either the same numbers or different ones. So in conclusion each cycle of one slavager get 5% chance of getting those number pick after that it will reset and then the next salavager will do the same thing with a random number and it could be the same or a different number basically your playing roulette

6 salvagers means its 6 times more probable that you salvage the wreck that if you were using just 1.
On the other hand, its highly probable that more than one of those could have succesfully salvaged, you know what I mean? For example you activated 6 on same wreck and, by fortune, 2 of them could have salvaged it. Now you have "wasted" some time isnt it?
I usually activate 2x in each wreck, as I use 6x salvagers this means I normally work with 3 different wrecks at a time.
