well i was lazy and forgot the fundamental rule to not loseing a ship your not currently in, specifically while mining in a hulk and depositing into an empty orca:
target lock your orca!
can tipper came into the belt and saw it floating there, boarded and ran off with it, all could have been avoided with a simple target lock... or a warp scrambler now that i think of it.
not gonnna point fingers, rage quit or QQ. i lost a half billion dollar ship because i was dumb. dont let it happen to you.

Don't leave an expensive ship floating around without a pilot, even in corp POS's they aren';t completley safe. I so wish I had been the one to find the Orca

Locking your Orca helps slightly, but not very much... If someone knows what they are doing, they can easily separate you from the floating Orca far enough to break your lock, and that will be all.
I assume you did this in Empire... So how exactly would a warp scrambler help? The scrambler would either auto-disengage the Orca when boarded (which you'd have to lock to apply anyway!) or auto-AGRESS the new owner of the ship and cause yourself a 'dokken. Yay. And if you DO end up with kill rights on him for theft... Well, then what? It's not like you can re-flip the ship after it's been boarded...
I am not sure whether or not I would have swiped your Orca if I had found it. Although I am that nice of a person to pass on the chance, I have been known to be an opprotunist at times. And I usually chastise buffoonery like that anyway.
Fundamental rule changed to: Don't use your Orca as a solo mining platform.
