Hi,
I know that you say that name change isn't allowed, and that to change the name we should reform under another corp.
But I was thinking, how about introducing the ability to rename corps, that cost the corp creation fee? It would make life easier for those of us that want to name change, as the 24hour waiting period between switching to a corp, that is essentially the same, is eliminated.
Anyway, just a thought.

Edited by: K''Daai on 29/04/2009 12:02:00 As far as I know they did it change the name of a corp (some leftovers of the BoB alliance) so they don't have to loose sovereignty.
Theoretically speaking it's done "case by case" basis according to official policy. So you need to petition and wait for the response(which will be "No" unless you are part of BoB or CCP).
/me takes off tinfoil hat
Done on a case by case basis, petition, write a good story (hope you can bull**** good) and wait for the response.

Yeah, it was more of a thought on something they could add, as it seems alot of people want a re-name, and that as we pay for the game, they should listen to us and what we are saying.
Also, if the whole BoBR thing is so they don't lose sovreignty, thats silly, coz i remember reading somewhere that the act of pullin BoB down was perfectly with the rules of the game, and that CCP would have no part in reforming it. But wait, they did!
Surely if the proccess of disbanding BoB was within the Rules, the loss of sovreignty is a side affect of that and should just be left alone..?!

The BOB sovereignty thing didn't occur until some time after the initial sov crash. The change was from Kenzoku to Band of Brothers Reloaded, and it was done so that the few remaining systems they held sov over wouldn't be lost. Replacing the initial sov loss after the treason incident was not a goal of the name change petition, as it was only meant to apply to the systems claimed by the newly formed Kenzoku alliance.

Right, okay, so they lost loads of space? Cool :)
But also, Band of Brothers Reloaded, I heard somehwere that the name is longer than the allowed?
I hate to sound like a whiner, but I am noticing a trend of favouritism going on...

Band of Brothers Reloaded... I dunno about name length. I think the change back to Kenzoku had more to do with the organized whine campaign about consistency with the "no name changes" rule.
Frankly I don't know why a newly formed corp or alliance can't get a name change as long as it's obvious they aren't doing it for some nefarious reason. After a certain amount of time has past though I think the "no changes" rule should come into play (sorry "Athiest" Syndicate.)

Yeah, I can see now why people get a little touchy on the subject of CCP favouritism.
Honestly I think both Goon & BoB need to get a life, as it is only a game.
But whatever floats there boat.
So yeah, does anyone like my idea to charge the corp creation fee for a name change

Well the rivalry between them is part of the fun, and fanboi-ism from the rest of the playerbase adds to it. Nobody is really taking it too seriously, hopefully. I mean I can understand that there are some rivalries that get a bit personal, but if that sort of thing can be tolerated in any other non-professional competitive arena it should be tolerated in MMOs too, IMO.
But to answer your question, I think name changes early on are fine. After that the name should stay stuck as it is, keeping whatever name the corp wanted to change to in circulation for someone else to pick.

Yeah, but I think that if a corp feels strongly enough about changing there name, they should be allowed to, and pay the 1.6 mill fee to create a new corp, but jst not have to wait the 24 hour period of no roles.
