Flying a caracal with Heavy Missiles is impossible within a week. Being able to do level 3 missions is even more impossible within one week. Geeze everyone in this damned game buys accounts. How is that fun?

Edited by: Yeggstry on 14/09/2004 10:08:13 can anyone tell me their caracal setup for mordus missions? I've been having some problems with my setup (lost 2 caracals already in mordus missions) and wanted to know what someone that has completed the mission.
The last time I tried the mission was about 1 week and a half ago, and I now have some better skills/components, was wondering what you guys think to this setup...
3x XR-3200 heavy launchers 1x Limos heavy launcher 1x malkuth heavy launcher med. shield booster II med. shield extender II/ 10mn mwd (depending on power requirements) sensor booster I micro Cap recharger with 10x 150s warp core stabiliser ballistic control
Let me know what you think.
Thanks :)
p.s. all you whinging idiots that think the mission is too hard, dont do them if you dont like them, learn some skills and get some decent weapons, not noobing around in a bs with 1mil skillpoints.....

To Yeggstry,
Imho I think you should scratch the Extender, just go with the MWD - your setups purpose is to stay OUT of range. Also never mind about the warp core stabilizer, again, the longest range on a warp scrambler is 20k something right - so, you're going to be out at 45k or so anyways so what's the point in that? Instead, put in another ballistic control or a power diagnostics unit. I'd also scratch the sensor booster, your missiles fire slightly more than your targetting range but with the sensor booster your targetting range is MUCH farther than your actual range - there's really no point in that either. Put a cap recharger in there instead, that MWD is going to suck you dry.
Just my two cents :)

Thanks for your advice :)
I never thought of having a cap recharger in there, but I realise that the problem I was having in the first place was because i wasn't shooting at the right thing first (i.e. inty with warp scrambler) and when I tried to use my MWD I couldn't get away.... by that time I'd run out of capacitor charge so was a bit screwed :/
At least I know the tactics I should deploy, and will let you know how it goes :)

here is my setup with Caracal for this mission:
5 heavy missle launchers 10mnMWD/100mnAB, Med Shield Booster tech 2, Webber, Cap recharger. PDU/RCU/Ballistic Controls in lows as nessesary.
In this setup, you can outrun most of the rats fairly easy, 100mn AB with right skills allows you to run it constantly, MWD will not but it gives you more speed, so it just requires a bit more micromanagement but it allows you to use ballistic control in low in slow which othervise taken by RCU or PDU.
When you warp in, lock intercepter, launch missles, wait for it to close in, web him and after second valley he will be dead or almost dead. After that, just kill the rest of them one by one with missles from 50k range. Nice and simple. fast ones (like ofspreys) first so you do not have to run MWD too much.

Edited by: Belshazzur Nephilim on 14/09/2004 23:54:48 I've had this mission three times so far and I lost a cruiser on the first one and it was all my fault, not CCP. What you have to do is concentrate on the Assault frigates first before they MWD in close to you to web you up. They are hard due to their advanced repairing set up, so my advice is to take out the assault frigates at a distance greater than 12KM by first killing their shields with EM cruise missiles or a massive volley of heavy missiles, then puncture their ship hulls.
On the first mission, 2 frigates web statis me at 10KM while the rest of the bastards closed in for the kill. The second mission, I watched how close they got and I dealt massive damage to them but as they closed in below 15KM, I set a book mark and warped out. I then returned to the new book mark I just made at about 60KM hammered their lame arses until they were unable to return a response to me. The remaining ships were easy as pie after the Assault frigates were sent to the spirit world.
I hope this helps.

I do all my missions in a Caracal. I only get one version of this mission, but the spawn types can change out. Only once did I encounter a 650k Raid Leader. He died with only putting about 10 more scourges in him than a 100k Moa. But I did notice that when I did that mission, I noticed someone had that exact same mission in the exact same spot. That could make it hairy, but my staying alive is due to the long arm of the Caracal and a handy MWD.
I really don't find any level 3 missions terribly challenging, but I've never had a blockade mission and I hear those are more difficult.

Please feel free to check my character in game (even tho i'm a n00b i think it shows character creation date). I have a caracal and 22 million spare atm (even after helping some of my clan mates with millions when they started too). Yes a mate helped me by giving me a million when i first started and bought me a good skill pack, but no - i haven't bought this account, nor played the game before! I just play a LOT and in all games have always been a grinder. Sad to see ppl calling me a liar! Not everyone who plays this spends their time sitting around asteroids with their thumb up their ass! ;) And i work full time!
For info, i've had that mordus mission about 5 times now and i can't believe ppl have been whinging here, is this the forum for people who aren't very good at games? Would seem so with the mordus whinging, and people finding it hard to believe someone can get lvl 3 missions/caracal in around a week ...
oh, and here's my caracal setup for whomever asked above (attainable in around a week):
high 4x malkuth heavy launcher 1x limos heavy launcher
med 1x 10mn MWD 1x named 32.5% kinetic hardener (probly not the best for mordus, but hell im a noob!) 1x named shield extender (something barrier, gives +440 shield) 1x medium shield booster
low 1x photonic CPU 1x overdrive
edit: ok perhaps i was nearer 10 days when i first did the mordus mission (checking back to the date my first post on my clan forum with regards to starting playing eve). i've now been playing 14 days ..

an armor tanked tempest is enough for this + 6 ogres i use cruise missiles for the bounty hunter and 800mm for the cruisers in the first wave then i begin picking up the loot i tank the rest of them with 1 medium accomadation armor repairer - I finaly got above 2.5mill sp yesterday . all lvl3 missions are easy Fluffy carebear (\_/) (O.o) (> <) This is Bunny. its always amazing to me the peeps complain about getting destoyed in a mission they have not seen before. seems to me that any good pilot that is going someplace never before seen, would want to be cautious.
wake up peeps, this is space! and alot of it is unkown and uncharted....use caution.
besides the mobs in the mission, there could be(gasp) pirates about. just waiting on u to start your mission.

Actually I havent done this mission in a few weeks but I found it a blast with a so-so Rupture set-up. It was something like 3 720 mms, 1 assualt launcher, 2 hvy launchers, 2 shield hardeners, 1 10 mn AB and most of my low slots dotted with damage & tracking mods. About 3/4 of the way through the mission I ran out of hvy missiles and the closest ones for sale were 7 jumps away and I had to rely on drones and guns to finish up the mission.I know this isn't the best setup for this mission but it sure made it a blast.
For those that say its too easy, spice it up by trying wierd and unconventional set-ups. I find agents missions are the most fun seeing how you can tackle them in either the smallest ship you have or in a very crappy set-up. After all these are only NPC and not very smart. If I did all my missions in one of my battleships I would find them very boring.

Ares, orbit at 25km firing piranha light missiles
(even for the lvl 3 mordu's)
It has them sitting in a pack chasing their tales, also makes it eays for loot pickup as cans are usually right next to each other
