linkeh for the reffrence http://www.bit-tech.net/gaming/pc/2009/04/20/30-pc-games-to-play-before-you-die/7
and the text for the lazy
Quote: World of Warcraft may be more popular and more colourful, but true PC gamers will know that itÆs EVE which is at the cutting edge of the MMORPG genre. The game, which has been running since 2003, has gotten so vast and complex that itÆs actually spawned a political system and economy of its very own, complete with wars and elections.
LetÆs put it this way û thereÆs no other game out there which we know of thatÆs got to the stage where the developer has had to setup an internal affairs unit to investigate CCP-led in-game crime. That fact alone makes EVE unique enough to warrant your attention, in our opinion.
With major content still coming out via new updates and packs, the amount of in-world space about to be expanded and new players still rushing to join up weÆve got no doubt that EVE Online is the most exciting MMO thatÆs currently active. World of Warcraft may be the most well-known MMORPG and PlanetSide might have had a few really interesting ideas, but EVE Online is the only game that really fulfils the exciting promise that sits at the core of an MMO model - an entire online universe.
Sure, you could say the same about Second Life we suppose, but who wants to play in an online universe filled with furries?

Eve is still just the same in that regard.

30 PC Games to play before you die eh?
I looked it over and although I don't agree with every single one it was a surprisingly good list considering the usual crap.
System Shock 2 is a game I took upon myself to get working and play some time ago and unfortunately it's so old now the graphics did kill it a bit, I did enjoy it but it certainly would've unnerved me a lot more had I played it 4 odd years ago. Whereas I was pretty comfortable and a little unimpressed at times instead. One of the few classics that deserves to be remake in high definition.
I have got to remember to try out dwarf fortress again, some of my friends think it's great.
if you disagree with me then you should probably post a response and stop reading my signature. |

They didn't put Morrowind up there. Personally, that's on the top of my list just dealing with pure size and scale.

deus ex i played that a few weeks ago still one of the greatest mix of rpg/fps/stealth games ever made.
quake 2 from the trick physics to the speed to some of the greatest dm maps ever made, the edge ftw, oh how many work nights i got 3 hours sleep fragging my buddies in quake 2 or when a bit burnt out just practicing some of the trickier straif jump double jump lines on maps or playing co op campaign.
of course eve o.
great list.

When Deus Ex came out, I beat it 13 in a row, back to back before I decided to chill for a bit on it. That game was awesome. Same with System Shock 2.

Thats a failed list for any real pc gamer because:
No Medal of Honor: Allied Assault (GREAT fps play, good single play missions)- Been Top Euro League team (TMY) and Top Euro team Open Champs (DaMN) on Clanbase with that game No Call of Duty (anyone of the 4 available, especially 2 and 4) No Battlefield:Vietnam (which cant be beaten for the music alone -- I ripped the music off the game) No Rainbow Six: Raven shield (one of the best goddam games i've EVER played) No Doom 3 No Star Wars: Jedi Academy
And the list goes on and on. Surely it should be, "30 games i've liked maybe you will too .. add your own"

Idk. Alot of the games you listed above havent really been influencial to future games. Doom 3 was good but Doom 1 did more for gaming. Rainbow six: Raven Shield was great but I think the original was more well known. Call of duty is basicly just another FPS. Medal of Honor I cant say much about. Never really liked that series.

The list isn't the 30 best games ever made or the 30 most influential games but 30 games to play before you die, i.e. these games are classics. COD 1, 2, and 4 should be on the list combined in 1 entry (like how they combined the Half-Life 2 games), Battlefield 2 (in a proper LAN setting - ah those were the days), SW: Jedi Knight 2 Jedi Outcast, the original Halo (PC online multiplayer was hella fun), Age of Empires 2... maybe Team Fortress 2. Burnout Paradise, now that it's come to the PC, deserves an honorable mention. Counter-strike would get a mention if it was possible to play that game to way it was meant to be played.
Of course, EVE deserves to be on the list almost (I'm sorry but IMO HL2 is better) front and center
