Hey all
I got this problem that when school ends, I have like.. 2 hours of spare time before i can get home. In the beginning of the year this was no problem, since the schools computer technicians suck, however, lately a new firewall have been setup, which means that I can't play eve on those stray hours. As the EvE geek I am I feel obliged to play during those few hours. So, to the question, does anyone knows a working way to run eve via a proxy? help will be much appriciated
Regards Kenny

I have sucessfully tried the following when at work:
- Simplest is just to tunnel via ssh, this would mean you need to have a host somewhere (home computer?) that supports this forwarding. In my case my ISP is kind enough to provide a public unix host. (I use putty/plink with -L 26000:87.237.38.200:26000 and start eve with /server:localhost)
- A sloooooowww option is to use remote desktop (directx can work across RD, I have trouble with the sound somtimes) though this is not suited for any play except changing skills, setting up jobs etc. Again this requires that you have a desktop running somewhere. What is more, cpp have decided that for some reason XYZ, you are not allowed to start the client while on a remote session. So you must start the client before you start your remote desktop session. You can simply leave it at the login screen. Also, if DT hits during this time, for me atleast, the client is unable to reinitialize it's socket, forcing you to restart the client. But that involves starting the client, which is not allowed on a remote session.

the failure to start any dx game in RD is quite obvious, as you technically have NO! 3d power in a RD session, stuff started prolly get cpu rendered ;-) once in terminal session, hence the slow ness
i would advise..

you can connect as long as you have the tool installed & running on your home computer... if your a miner this is a option, dont pvp /w it, that wont work :P |

I've tried hamachi before on the computer for lan purposes, however, hamachi can't get trough the firewall and connect to the main hamachi server. but it works for some, and thats really odd, havn't got it to work for me with and w/o proxy settings, however, mozilla works via a proxy
