Actually I tried EVE about 2.5 years ago but I was younger (26 atm) and impatient, so I quit after not getting results quickly. Now I've decided to give it another go.
I'm not quite sure yet which direction I want to go yet. Pvp sounds interesting but I can't do that from the start, I might go for pve though I'm not quite sure yet. All I know is that I'm more of a fighter/explorer than anything else. I'm starting from scratch with about 3.500.000 isk in my wallet which I still had on a old char. I'm not continueing that one since it was only about a month old and I'd like to start from scratch, learning all that I need to know to do the thing that I want to do.
I do have a question though, since I don't really know anyone and I read/heard that it's advisable to get into a corp or alliance where I can meet lot's of friendly and helpful people. Can anyone recommend me a nice one that doesn't mind taking in a newbie like me and possibly helping me out getting started (knowledge wise)? I prefer to work my own way up as much as I can without getting everything handed to me for free (ofcourse I won't refuse if someone were to give me some leftover parts or skills that I can use/learn, but then who wouldn't).
I'm hoping to start a great experience and meet a lot of friendly new people.
Cya ingame!

Check out EVE university
It's not the character skills that make the difference in PVP, it's more about player/real life skills like fittings and experience etc. There is a video of a couple of 2-day old rifter pilots pwning face (although the pilots are experience players starting new characters). Just goes to show PVP can be done by newer players, you just have to know what to do.
Mining (to me) is infinitely boring Exploring requires you to know how to probe + have the relevant skills. You'll also need a PVE ship to do the sites. Scan out people to ninja salvage their missions (doesn't require combat ships unless you steal loot too) Running missions is a boring but easy way to make money Scamming needs a special mindset, or a macro to spam contract scams Trading is good money but requires a lot of market research
Your best bet is joining either EVE university (for general gameplay tips/knowledge) or signing up for one of the pirate academies who will show you how to handle yourself in PVP.
