Hi,
Im currently specced towards flying gallente ships. But when summing up the pros and cons, and holding it up against what i need in a ship the Amarr just looks to perform better.
The thing that tips the barrel is that amarr can hit and do damage at medium range by using short range guns and T2 ammo.
So the anwser is simple: Crosstrain :-D
But its no secret that alot of ppl are complaining over the lasers vs the rest-issues, guess they have the same needs as i do.
So I'm a bit worried that once I have used a couple of month training T2 lasers (and ships, since i dont want to fly an unbonused ship :-) ), they will be brought on par with the blasters (or vice versa) that i currently have the skills for.
I have searched the forums and the dev blogs, but if there's a statement there somewhere I must have overlooked it. So can anyone tell me if there is any plans on aligning these issues?
Best regards

In most reasonably minded ppls opinion its the other systems like blasters and AC (especially BS sized) that need adjusting to be more effective, rather than nerfing lasers as nerfing lasers will not fix the issues with the other systems.

I dont want to go into that discussion, so please make your own thread for it if you want to discuss it. ;-)
I just want to know if there are any plans on changing either blasters or lasers, or if I can safely start to crosstrain.

It has been commented by a dev that "the blaster issue is being looked into".

FOTM's get nerfed after enough nerd rage and whinage happens on the forums. however, in all the recent Dev posts about game balance, the loudest chant has not been to nerf lasers, but to Fix the other weapons systems, and the Devs are giving assurances that they are listening.
Whilst there has been no Dev blog to say 'Lasers are Fine, we wont touch them' or 'We will nerf lasers in to oblivion cos they are omfgwtfpwanzoz!' i'd think it pretty safe to cross train right now. Even if lasers are nerfed / rebalanced / turned in to fish, cross training is never usually a bad thing.

this.
Tbh I love where lazers are atm and think they should stay right how they are.
It really is the other weapons that have problem; arty can't alpha and have no role, blasters can't get on their target, missiles well they have a fair few problems, even drones have a couple bugs. That doesn't mean the dev's however will do the smart thing and fix the broken ones, after all it's much easier to nerf 1 weapon system than to fix 4 so it really could go either way.
as always fly what you want to fly regardless of stats OR cross train to a couple races so you can switch between depending on what's good or what you feel like.

Hehe, I thought this was a THE AMARR PROBLEM thread before I read the OP... It was fine then and it's fine now.

Fix large blaster tracking formula. Fix large artillery alpha damage. Fix tech 2 ammo.
Then problem solved I think.
if you disagree with me then you should probably post a response and stop reading my signature. |

Yeah, my fear was that it would turn into that, thanks for pointing out btw. :)
I have no issue with training for a second race if it gets the job done better.
Im just worried that I will spend loads of time getting into a ship, and then when im finally able to fly it, I will see the one I already had the skills for being boosted to what I needed in the first place (long sentence alert). That would become redundant training I would rather have used to get into a different shipclass, like a cap for instance.
Of course being able to pilot multiple races is never a complete waste, but I dont really miss the luxury of having the option of choosing between ship A and B if they do exactly the same :)
Hope you get my point.
Fly safe.

No offense, but Game Dev is probably a poor place to put this thread. Also, the OP *begs* to get into this discussion. However, the "Blaster Problem" has been under review since before Apocrypha went live (they acklowledged then that blasters were getting horribly broken by the changes). Even in the latest "what's wrong with Eve" where projectiles/blasters were overwhelmingly brought up, they have not commented on any of those problems. But they did manage to decide to fix ECM drones!
At any rate, I wouldn't start cross training right now, simply because it's far easier to "fix" one weapons system than to fix all the others.
