Here's the situation. I jumped into a highsec wormhole leading to a class 5 in Sinq Laison early last night, and it collapsed on me while I was chatting with a Cheetah pilot who also happened to be there. We both got stuck, but hey... it's happened before, I assured him there would be a way out in this system or the next one.
LOL, WRONG!
I'm now five systems in, having probed out every single signature in each system (to the point of identifying the signal type and recording the ID, not fully pinning it). I've gone to every wormhole I've found. There is no way out, just an endless maze of class 5s. I cannot escape. I spent two hours probing last night and two hours today, and I had a partner last night. We found a sh*t-ton of w-space systems, all of them class 5. I even took my picture in orbit to an empty Thanatos we found in our quest to find players who might have an exit.
I'm deep in the rabbit hole, and it would appear I'm only getting deeper. When the hell can I expect to find a known-space wormhole? I'd be satisfied with the damn drone regions. -CEO of AC-AF- |

When you run into a class 5 that has one?
Really, it's up to luck. Just keep checking; just know that you'll probably be dumped in lowsec or 0.0.

I'm in system number 6. Thank god for the 2-probe trick I just learned or I'd be here all night again. -CEO of AC-AF- |

It happens.
My corp travelled the following chain of w-space systems before finding a k-space connection: 4>4>4>4>6>2>4>6>5>3>low sec

I've never gone more than 2 systems without a 0.0 exit. Can be a lot more without a high/lowsec exit though.
You seem to have stumbled upon a succession of deep w-space. At least it's been an experience for you, be happy the Devs have given you the opportunity to be genuinely Lost In Space Also, it has come to my attention that I'm really in need of a proper signature. |

I'm out, I'm out I'm out I'm out ^_^
Q5KZ-W is the system. I'm 49 jumps from home at best. Time to find a shortcut wormhole. -CEO of AC-AF- |

Edited by: VicturusTeSaluto on 08/05/2009 00:39:15 Uhhh, you just left the thanatos? sitting there? Plenty of people would be happy to stick an alt in there w/ the thanny and wait for a way to get it into k-space.
It probably has a full set of fighters, fittings etc. Not cheap.

And all you'd have to do is get the carrier pilot alt to the Thanatos before someone else did :)

What a lightweight you are. Try nine systems, that's my max so far. One evening I probed out a 5 system path, only to have the guy who's pos we were attacking put the first wh in critical before the fleet got there, so I had to collapse that path and probe out a new, nine(!) system, path for the fleet to come in through. I was considering taking a month long break from Eve after that, but a couple nights sleep was enough to forget that pain.
Edit: Seems my max was two less then Santiago's still.
You LEFT the Thanny there

If you have a bit of probe skills, I place a central probe, surrounded by 6 other probes, each overlapping a sixth of the circle with a 2 AU core probes. When you get a hit on a sig, on the most comming signatures it'll tell if they are ladar or grav and u can savely ingore them. Its only on the weeker u have to start scaling down.
They cover around 4 square AU, hold them above and below planets to quickly identift sigs.

Maybe its 2 probes one on top of the other. A bit like the 3 or 4 probe trick of having, Yes you guessed it, ...
Question is, is it actually a trick, like the rabbit out of the hat, but that's not really a trick, its just called a trick, its more an illusion.
I'm lost in space too, but I am okay, no really, I'm fine. tra la laa
