I have a skill that's unnecessary. I was wondering if there's a way to transfer the points of the skill to something else. I have a Minmatar frigate skill 2 but I don't need it (I'm Gallente) with no Minmatar ship.
Thanks... ________________________________________________ We can conquer this...do you believe? Will you stand with me? |

You never know when you decide to try Min frigates. The Rifter is an awesome little ship, so it's not entirely useless. Besides, you lost like, what, 1 hour of training getting that skill?

Really, don't bother with that little hick-up. If you stay long enough in EVE you'll be glad you trained it. If not, now you've learned your lesson: Anything you do in EVE has its consequences.
Think before you do. Engage head before invoking action. And get reading skills to 5, first.
And I know I can write that knowing I made *plenty* of mistakes myself. And I'm not even that old.

No, there isn't.
Also, right now you're flying Gallente. That may not be true later on, in which case you'll be glad to have that trained up.

A corp mate of mine trained defenders to 5. I'm pretty sure he considers that wasted skill points :D

One day, you will find yourself in a pod, and the only ship available is a Slasher, or a Kessie, or a Punisher.
Then you will be very grateful that you trained in learned how to fly different sorts of frigates.

I once thought this when I stupidly wasted a week to train small energy turrets to level 5 as a new player. I quickly realised that lasers, while sounding rather cool weren't much use on my Gallente ships.
I recently decided I'd like to cross train to Amarr so that I could fly a Curse (my missile/drone skills were good and I'd already trained Recons to level 5, but only had Gallente ships).
So I spent a lot of time training up Amarr ships and what do you know, the level 5 small energy turrets suddenly knocked a week off my training time. A whole world of Amarr T1 and T2 frigates became available to me and with 20 minutes extra training I could load up a rack of T2 lasers on my ships.
With Frigates, I'd go so far as to train all races to level 3 or 4 and even go a couple of levels with cruisers if you like. If you ever find an abandoned T1 frig or cruiser, you simply bookmark, fly to the station, jump in your pod and go collect it. The skills won't be wasted in the longer run. ______________________ Isn't it time you learned to fight back? Agony Unleashed Home of the PvP University.

I'd have to agree with Terminus Vindictus. You could easily negate the uselessness of that skill by training it two more levels and getting a rifter. It's useful to be able to reap the benefits of another race's strong points. Can be just the edge you need.

I actually trained frigates for every race, on purpose.
How else are you supposed to figure out what you want to fly?
Yes, ultimately, it's probably wasted SP. I'll likely find the race I like best and keep flying them, making all those other frigate skills useless. But, honestly, frigate skills don't cost much.

This guy has the right attitude. You could either spend a few days trying out every race's frigs, or you could spend weeks/months/years deciding that your hard work was wasted because you don't like how X race works and want them to perform like Y race does.
You won't get the complete idea by flying frigs, but it'll get you set off on the right step so that you don't get hit in the face by the Blatantly Obvious Bat later on.

And also useless posters like yourself.
For the OP, this was a question I had as well, so thanks for taking the time to post/question. I have a few skills I wish I could 'remap' in a sense, but with the input both here on the forums, and checking with corp/ally mates, unfortunately the answer is no.
However, look at the bright side. Once you have the skill, you have it. Nothing wrong with playing cross-faction ships, and you may find something to your liking as well.
I wanted to re-do some of my Science/Production skills to refocus somewhere else, but o well. Who knows then when they will come in handy.
Best of luck.

A few days later, CCP decided that artillery & autocannons would no longer use capacitor.

If you were going to "waste" skill points, Minmatar frigates is the place to do it. The Vigil and the Rifter are top performers in their roles in the frigate class. You may find a use for them yet.
Yeah, A reskill would be cool. But since it hasn't happened yet, it is unlikely to ever happen.
