Ran fine on the Beta
Runs fine on the RC1
W7 Rc1 is the best Windows OS I have ever used.

Edited by: Tramov on 12/05/2009 10:03:14 Its just that 4.8 performance (out of the mysterious total of 7.9) that Seven gives my computer that has me seriously depressed.
3.2 Ghz Core Duo, 3Gb of memory...
Spending $$$ on a new graphic card would up this, but then I would also need a new hard disk, new memory, a new CPU...

Just installed Windows 7 From XP, Found it on the whole more stable. Yes it crashes with EVE but then again so does EVE and XP. So nothing new there. It does however seem to recover from EVE's buggy software after a few seconds of blank screens where as XP never could. However it still reboots my PC when I try to quit the game.
Windows 7 then moans at me suggesting I dont turn the PC down in such a unfriendly manor. Where as XP just Rebooted and then locked up. Requiring a turn off.
OH PC's just dont you love them.

I dual boot XP32 and Win7_64 RC. How is the performance of EVE on WIN 7. Is it faster than on XP? I was impressed with the speed of Win7 on general tasks. Also I have 4GB DDR3, how much memory does EVE use. On WinXP it says 2.5GB memory, it should say 3.25GB. My DDR2 computer with XP says 3.25GB which is what XP should handle, but on that computer I have 4x1GB sticks and on the DDR3 computer I have 2x2GB. Any Idea why my DDR3 computer only have 2.5GB in XP?

what graphics card does it have? (ram size maily) i htink that in 32 bit only 3gb can be used and that your video cards ram is included in this number thus a 512mb graphics card would use up 512mb of the addressing space, leaving 2.5gb for your ram
i dunno, i think im right :P -----------------------------------------------

Eve does run on windows 7, but eve needs dx9 runtime files installed. Once you download and install dx9 runtime files eve will run fine. I currently run it on a windows 7 RC x64 pc and macbook pro

Been running EvE on windows 7 since early beta and not had any problems, Infact it actually runs better on win 7 than on XP , Now on Win 7 RC1 and it just gets better. XP had a problem with running 4 clients for some reason im reconing it is the graphics card which is due an upgrade, But win 7 does run all 4 as long as the settings are set low.. Hijackzorzzzz

It is a GF8800 with 512mb ram, but I don't think thats it, coz my other computer has a GF7900 with 256mb and it utilize all 3.25mb XP can handle. The computer with 512mb video should have said 2.75 then.
What it can look like is that I only get 1/4 of the last memory stick 3.25 (256mb of the 1gb stick and 512mb of the second 2gb stick on the "new" computer.

Nope. no onboard gfx card, or any memory allocated to GFX card in bios.
but I have to run it under windows 7 anyway since EVE always crash for me within 20 minutes in WinXP (this is on both computers). Now on my totally clean WinXP installation it crashed during the intro. (I reinstalled XP this weekend to dual boot with Win7). Nothing else makes XP crash, but EVE does it everytime on both computers.

possibly faulty ram? my old PC used to die if i played eve for a long time/epicpewpew'd.
turned out my PSU was crappy and didnt supply enough power to the graphics card when under heavy load so i would BSOD. -----------------------------------------------

Aren't you the one who mistakenly started two threads? Given your technical difficulties, did you consider that the problem might be between the chair and the keyboard?

Nope. Only thing that crash is EVE and only in XP. It ran fine in Vista and I'm installing it in Win7 now. The Vista and Win7 Memory diag says everything is fine. And like I said, I'm unable to run EVE stable in XP on both computers, works fine in Vista on both and nothing else makes it crash.
Geuss there is something with the hardware configuration EVE doesn't like in XP. Like I said, this is a fresh XP install and I couldn't even get through the intro of EVE before it crashed.

Check your bios for a memory hole option. That should fix it. -- The future is black.

The address range reserved for addressing hardware changes depending on the configuration of the system. SLI-capable motherboards have a tendency to have much more address space reserved.
I'd recomend sticking to 64-bit Windows if using more than 3 gigs of RAM.
