They always end up hollywoodizing the aliens in these remakes, and they look like something out of the men in black movies. One of the things which made the original great was the little Greys scurrying around in the dark, mind controlling people. Even though it could be extremely frustrating.
There was also all kinds of little details like Element 114, and the evidence of mutilations inside craft, which line up with UFO lore. I appreciate all the remakes and enjoy the tactical aspects, but they never quite have the same feel. And i don't even know what to think of this upcoming 50's reboot yet. |

I believe you will find that was Elerium 115.
The atmosphere and gameplay of those games is pretty much unequalled since tbh. Dosbox + UFO/TFTD is still pure win. R.I.P. Microprose. |

Well, it's not out yet ... and the engine looks a little meh. Ideally, the Men of War series GEM 2 engine is probably the closest match to X-Com's playstyle.
Now, if someone comes up with an X-Com based on that ... it'll be very interesting.

I actually screwed it up. Bob Lazar talked about Element 115 as a UFO fuel source. The description of 'elerium 115' in the game is identical to it.
On a side note, elements 114 and 116 have recently been added to the periodic table. |
