EVE Online: Apocrypha 1.2 will be deployed on Thursday, 14th May 2009. Downtime is scheduled to start at 05.00 GMT and is expected to be completed by 12.00 GMT.
This patch will fix issues that have been reported following the release of Apocrypha 1.1 including a wide variety of fixes to ships and modules, agents and missions, user interface and much more. The downtime will affect the forums which will be unavailable for part of the time. It is advisable that all players ensure that their skill queues are populated with enough skills prior to the patch deployment.
Patch notes are available; updates to the notes may be added should any further items be cleared through the Quality Assurance process. These updates will be highlighted with green text.

I am liking this... "Contracts will now display the cost of an item in words (hundreds, thousands, millions) even if the figure is not a round number. For example, a contract for an Invulnerability Field II at 200.999.999 ISK will be displayed in word form also as 200.99 Million, much the same as if it were a round number."

Looking good, particularly thankful for the smoother, less pixelated warp effect. That and the warp effect going in the right direction. And the changes to the cloak graphics. Looking forward to it!

Nice that you fixed the last-arty/rail round bug though.

Well, i dont see any mention of fixes for multiple scanning bugs introduced in 1.1. Are they just not in the patchnotes or are they not fixed yet?

Any fix in the Pipe for the Bug introduced in Apocrypha involving the Ability to Capture FW Plexes while Cloaked? I believe when the feature was first introduced it was stated that being cloaked near the Button would not affect the timer either for capturing it or for contesting the Button to prevent the other side capturing it.
Post Apocrypha, there have been multiple complaints, at least within both the Caldari and Gallente Militia's that people of the opposing side have been running these Plexes while Cloaked thus avoiding Player Intervention and NPC Aggro.
There's a 3 Page thread in Warfare and Tactics about this so far wondering whether it's an Exploit or whether it's working as Intended. Could you have a word with a Relevant Developer to comment on this issue? ---------------

The one that makes shadow big black blocks or blobs. Shadows on the ship, buildings, stargates, star bases are all big blobs that look terrible.

Not at all. We are working hard on them right now and three members of our eight member team have been working on them now for almost a month. The rest of the team has been focused on improving other areas where our department (Atlanta Content) also has work to do. For 1.2 this includes a lot of mission dungeon optimizations and text work in other projects. You have to keep in mind that Epic Arcs are not our sole responsibility.
As of yesterday, however, the entire department switched over to Epics and is now fully devoted to making them. This will speed the development of Epic Arcs up considerably. Due to their development time, they require a longer period to make than the same amount of "generic" missions, which do not interrelate and do not need anywhere near as much QA testing, etc.
Trust me, you want us to take the time it takes to do a proper job on these, rather than arbitrarily rushing out lower quality work just so that we hit the 1.2 patch release deadline. As we get closer to releasing the next batch of arcs, we'll let you know what's coming.

This is very true. And with all the respect for hard work. But nobody actually forced you (or whiever was writing the last epic mission devblog) with a gun and a soldering iron to promise that we can bake them epics every week now that framework engine is ready. And that was 2 month ago.

As for the broken filters and phantom multiple sig hits well, one can always dream.

I am hoping that some of these changes will help reduce the lag that results in the 'desynch' issue, and help return FW to the much more lag-resistance days of yore.
One thing I am curious about, is why are the patch notes always so coy about describing the exploits when they have been fixed? I know this is ahead of the actual implementation, but I am curious to see what they were, just for curiosities sake.

cant wait for the cloak change to come in.
i know it will get me killed a few times as well but i think it will let me gain more kills then i will die due to the changes.
so another oops for the falcon with the ecm cycle stopping when you cloak up again.

Apologies for that note. It has now been changed to read "Grouped laser turrets will now allow a single crystal to be changed out once it has become completely damaged. For example, if you have an Apocalypse with grouped pulse lasers using Tech II Scorch crystals, with varying degrees of damage you can reload used crystals without breaking the weapon group"

I think that there will be fewer targets to start with, though.
Unless, of course, the bug of activating-MWD-and-cloak-gives-full-MWD-speed-immediately will still be present when the patch is deployed. |

I'd like an answer on this too as it is a serious exploit, however CCP shows severe neglect in dealing with it despite numerous bug reports. |

The problem has existed since the changes to Stackless IO. There was communication from CCP with regards to Faction Warfare complaints, but little to nothing for everyone else.
When can we expect an update or ANY information?

The vast majority of my operations require reliable transport of small goods between Empire and 0.0. With the cloak+anything nerf, my ability to survive a bubblecamp is completely impaired.
Covert ops ships are naturally fragile and defenseless to make up for their speedy warps. Now they can't perform the role they were designed to do.
This better not be in regards to "invest in T3 interdiction nullifiers lol" (which don't appear to be fixed themselves). Good work CCP, finding more reasons to grind solo PVP into gatecamps.

If you have an issue with Falcons playing the uncloak, jam, cloak up, uncloak, jam etc game then fix the ECM module. By making the cloak switch off all mods, especially the MWD, you have just made ships able to fit a CovOps Cloak II trying to get through bubble camps greatly nothing but sitting ducks.
Honestly, who is now going to be able to get past these camps to drop a Covert Cyno or to actually be able to get any reconnaissance done?
Either you have failed to take into account the effect this change will have on the wider role of Covert ships or it's deliberate. Which is it? Any chance of a reply?

The patch notes said nothing about this.
The filters still do not work properly. This is extremely frustrating and time consuming.
I have also petitioned this weeks ago, and have not received any reply.

Here are some things that have been negatively affected by the scan probe bugs. Of course a player can still do any of these things with the broken probes; but it is tedious, difficult, and frustrating to do so and not by intended design or to provide challenge, but because bugs that severely compromise usability:
WARS During this time my corp wars have been fought almost entirely on station undock points and rarely at gates because it is so difficult to scan people down in space. The undock/jumping games get monotonous very quickly.
FACTION WARFARE for the same reasons above, though at least they have capture points to warp to in space.
EXPLORATION My friends who do Exploration have given up on it until the bugs are fixed. It is now so much work just to scan something down, it isn't worth the 90% chance that the loot will suck.
WORMHOLES It is a pain in the ass to scan down wormholes, or anything inside a wormhole E.G. player ships or sleepers. Who wants to go into a wormhole when you are blind once inside and will have a hard time finding your way out if your exit collapses.
PIRATING Many of my pirate friends in low sec like to scan down mission runners in low sec systems. They now almost all of their time gatecamping (instead of just most of their time) rather than go on occasional roams to find mission runners.
EVERYTHING other than boring old mission running or station/gatecamps has been impacted by a host of scan probe bugs that weren't there before the last patch.
I haven't been able to play this game the way I enjoy most since the last patch; and I find it unacceptable that there is not even ONE bug fix listed for the scan probes. Some good fixes in there. Great job a lot of work going into this patch.
I see no fixes for scan probes, and I know the mission team has been busy and are now moving on to epic arcs, but what about the COSMOS AGENT MISSIONS and STATIC PLEXES that have been broken for a while now. Either fix them or remove them from the game.

I'm sorry, but could someone actually explain the exact bug with exploration-scanning? My corp mates and I have managed to find many wormholes and signatures rather easily, so I ask, what is the bug?

Oh yeah, because we want to have to use a 10-20 man fleet to get some ammo out to 0.0. It's not only that, as others have said, this completely and utter kills the survivability for any ship with covert ops cloak. I can understand it being nerfed for prototype/improved cloaking device but not covops.
There have been several changes to the game I disliked or not agreed with but this one just...kindof leaves me speechless. It's the equivilant of using a tactical nuclear bomb when a tube of dynamite would've been sufficient.

Contracts will now display the cost of an item in words (hundreds, thousands, millions) even if the figure is not a round number. For example, a contract for an Invulnerability Field II at 200.999.999 ISK will be displayed in word form also as 200.99 Million, much the same as if it were a round number.

At some point, the four racial differences may disappear and the backstory along with it. I hope that enough differences among ships will exist that make choosing a race important. Some classes weaker, some classes stronger among each race, would be wise.
It would be nice if each race got a small (repeat , small) bonus when flying a ship of its own race. Anything to make the backstory and the racial differences wider is good. Attempts to "equalize" everything among the races (socialism in action, I suppose) is bad for the game.

Scan-probing filters seem to be fundamentally broken, with stuff not appearing or appearing on the list although it should have been the opposite. As has been said it is very frustrating, pretty much requiring the "show all" filter more often than not.
I'm also a bit puzzled why hasn't the fix to this been even mentioned, since the probing system was actually working very well before the last patch... let's hope something comes up in the last moment?

If a ship cloaks, all active modules that modify attributes, such as ECM, will stop immediately and the icons showing the effect will disappear.
Two things:
1. Are there any active modules that don't modify attributes? 2. Change this to 'all targeted active modules' and you'll have it right. There are lots of them actually. To name just the few most annoyng: Scan filters are broken and don't do what they are intended to do until reset Terrible lag and the GREEN FLASH on probe warping Scanner always shows one gfx object for a signature, even if it should show more then one - like two probes hit the same sig and should show 2 globes or 3 pobes hit a sig and should show 2 points. Some other stuff like probes lost in warp? probes losing strength bonuses after disconnect and so on

I read through the patch notes and didn't see anything about anti-aliasing. Is this something that will be addressed at some point? I have an nVidia 8800 GTX, which should give me good anti-aliasing even when in Windowed mode (which is how I play usually).
Also, I've noticed when my ship is getting pummeled, the sound pops and the right or left channel sometimes cuts out, and when my ship blows up, it comes back. It's bad enough to lose a ship but it's just poring salt on a wound when I have audio channels cutting out :P

If you get pod-killed, you wake up in your contract clone station not in a pod, not in a ship, not in anything at all. Before you leave station, you are required board a ship (apparently this was not working properly). If you get podded/jc you end up in a clone bay and then in the docking bay, you haven't actually entered the pod then so you need to enter a ship to get a new pod or some pseudo-explanation stuff like that.
As for the probes, if your probes are propperly positioned two probe hits will result in a circle, 3 in a dot (two dots only result iirc if you have a big deviation) and 4 obviously in a warpable dot (in the end).

Almost everything to do with the Apocrypha expansion hinges on the use of scan probes. Conveniently Apocrypha also brought us an entirely new scanning mechanic.
And then Apocrypha 1.1 broke it. And not in the sense of "I don't like the changes" but in the sense of "massive bugs and performance issues were introduced which rendered the entire use of scan probes frustrating at best."
1. Scan Filters don't work. Or they work intermittently, which is the same thing because you keep having to click show all to double check. 2. machines that have no problems with every other part of the game lock up completely for several seconds when scan probes are moving. 3. multiple hits on the same ID are not visible, only one randomly chosen hit from among them. 4. the new scanning bubble texture renders the movement controls on probes that are overlapping and below the ecliptic completely invisible. 5. the movement controls often do not appear on newly launched probes, requiring the probe to be deactivated and reactivated multiple times before in can be repositioned. 6. the name of the probe often overlaps the movement controls rendering them difficult to move. 7. scan probes do not stack in the cargohold when recalled.
If you want the content of Apocrypha to be enjoyed, these fixes should trump everything else.

Concerning the sound levels of turrets, you said you had fix some;
Did you fix the sound of a large pulse laser striking a target too?
Because honestly that one in particular is the main reason I have sound turned off all the time.
Comes out max volume completely drowning out everything else, whether maxed zoomed out or on quieter turret sounds or anything. Was ****ing me off.

I hope you realize that the game is made by a bunch of guys that are purposefully only a letter from the Soviet Union.

I, too, am really hoping there's a whole section of probing-system fixes that just hasn't made it into the patch notes yet.
For me the most frustrating is the one where, when you reconnect to lost probes, they don't get all their bonuses any more. This is silent and invisible; it's not until three fuzzy scans later that you finally get a max 89% hit on something you should be hundred-percenting with ease that you realize / remember the bug. Then, scoop the probes, launch and reposition the probes, and you've got your hit.
I've been waiting very patiently and nicely for this next patch, but I'll confess it never occurred to me that the probe fixes (especially the broken filters and missing dots) wouldn't be in it. ------------------ Ironfleet.com |

Also fix probing. I only have a few of the issues listed above, but the being unable to move stuff because of the stupid probe names is one of the most annoying things in the game.

Hmm, there is some win in this patch. Especially contract change and Naglfar change. Thumbs up for those.
But please take a look at POS shield and Sensor Booster graphics next. They are far too bothersome. The POS shield effect almost makes me feel sick after watching it for some minutes. Effects like these need to be unobtrusive and subtle.
Regarding the MWD+cloak side-effect.. well, it's a bit 'meh'. On the one hand the change makes sense and it was kind of too easy to slip through camps. On the other hand it will now probably be a bit too hard to break through, even for specialized ships. We'll see what kind of implications this will have.

Please don't make Eve even more of a chokepoint style game than it is. The feeling of space being this immense, boundless place is already quite muted in Eve, and yet you're making it more so by buffing gatecamps.
Don't you guys understand that we don't *want* to have fights at gates (or stations)? We do it because your game mechanics force us to do so. Seriously, can't you come up with a better design than one that turns the vastness of outer space into the Battle for Thermopylae?
Finally, please try to remember that you do have an awful lot of players who don't have a large posse to back them up. If you go through with this buff to gatecamps, you're effectively taking away access to portions of the game. With HICs now in the game, taking away the MWD/Cloak functionality means that there are no counters to an organized gatecamp. There is absolutely nothing you can do, short of rounding up an equal sized force, to have a decent chance of getting through.
Even if you want to disagree with all of that, just based on the ratio of negative to positive reactions to buffing gatecamps, you shouldn't go through with this change. When the vast majority of your players tell you not to do something, please don't do it unless you absolutely have to... and in this case, you don't.

Actually they should, but in fact they don't. There exists some configurations of probes and signature which gives you individual hits rather then circle. And in case of 3 probes you only ever see 1 of the points instead of two as before apoc 1.1, though you get two distinct hits with the same ID at the scanner.

There are some nice changes in these notes, but some serious problems too, so just a few last minute reminders for the devs:
- The deactivate-all-modules-when-cloak is a poorly thought out and hasty fix that will have a MUCH stronger negative impact to the current game than a positive one.
- Scanning bugs aside, I'm still disappointed that max skilled scanning specialist pilots are MUCH less worthwhile than they used to be. Further nerfs have happened since Apocrypha (such as deep space probe nerf), with no comments / responses from DEVs about the resons it needed to be nerfed.
- The Apocrypha 1.0 sensor booster effect was great, everyone loved it. The 1.1 sensor booster effect is way too much and everyone hates it. Why do we still have it?
- The new flash-jump animation is OK - but a lot of people miss the old cyno effect. Can we get it back? Maybe leave the new effect for gate jumps or sub capital bridges, and restore the nice cyno effect for capital jumps.
- The changes to citadel torps are a nice effort, but it's not a fix. A large issue that seems to have been ignored is that missiles LAUNCHED before entering siege do normal damage, and missiles that HIT after leaving siege do normal damage. Pick one or the other because no other capital weapon system has to take a double damage nerf like that.
- Ignoring the damage problem above, no reasonable speed increase is enough to fix the problem that makes phoenix a short range dread. Give us Citadel cruise missiles or something like that which flies at 10km/s. You can even put them in the same launcher and just change missile stats for balance. Every other dread gets long range ammo, why not caldari?
I look forward to hearing CCPs response to some of these issues before the patch is released.

While it stops people from doing things like jamming then cloaking to avoid being targeted and the mwd/cloak trick (not really, rest the rest), it lets you instantly warp assuming you're not in a bubble. With things like a 7 1600 plate megathron you can align, push mwd, wait a second, cloak/decloak, spam warp and immediately warp off. Seriously, I eyeballed the change note on this and immediately realized this was possible, how was it not even considered during testing? You won't catch anyone with a cloak/mwd at this point unless they're in a bubble, in which case they're probably 100% dead if you have any idea how to decloak people. ----------------

The problem is the 100% dead to smart camp factor. How is my RECON ship supposed to do recon if I'm going to die to two Inties and a Drake with a large bubble?
Like someone already said, make the cloak turn off offensive modules only. This fix is just plain lazy.

Well with the screw up of killing the covert ops totally with this change and the new stupid patcher program (VIRUS!!!) i will be considering my subscription to eve completely, i will not allow any torrent type program which is not under my control to be installed on any of my computers, i will be contacting trend micro to investigate the said patcher program for its content and possible virus/spam/spyware abilitys, regardless of what ccp say. if i can not manually patch, bye eve, i aint putting up with this, its ethically wrong. Oh and for those paying by wireless connection, enjoy your next bill, then send it to ccp for all the used data rate!!!!

I've NEVER had ANY issue with powergrid or CPU fitting out an Amarr or Gallente capital.
I have not had any issues with Caldari capitals since they boosted their CPU (only fly a phoenix tbh).
Why do they need to take the one race that actually has trouble with capital fitting requirements and nerf it's powergrid?
I know Minmatar are supposed to be "hard mode", but either make capital fitting an issue for all races and force them to make choices, or give ships enough that they can more or less ignore it (like amarr/gallente are now).
Don't use it as a means to further limit the underdog race.

I haven't been able to test this due to the autopatcher being broken and me having better things to do than test some horrible pando stealth service or try to patch using the missing TQ to sisi patcher.

Okay, let me explain. The Nag's DPS has gone up (2x projectile bonuses, both of which are more than any other dread gets, in addition to the torps), the Nag can active shield tank better than a Phoenix (slightly less peak boost, more cap stable), and it's still frickin VERTICAL. No, it can't shield buffer tank like a Phoenix. No, it doesn't do more DPS than a Moros or a Rev. But it's still far better off than it was before.

Arg, after the patching process the patcher told me that there was a patch error and that I had to reinstall the entire game. (Files not matching?). However I think I'm gonna wait untill I can make sure that I can't connect to EVE.
Also: damn only a <24h warning, I'm bleeding skilltime atm I think.

Its about time, I'm based close to Jita and I'm very tired seeing always the same scam, also the same scam is everywhere. I never understood why people was falling for.
It make legit trade almost impossible, I quite often trade blueprints copies and never able to sell them cause people block me thinking its another scam.

well, another patch another f**k up, downloaded the patch with the auto patcher, looked like all going well, tried to start the client and guess what...... it wont start, i get the first pic with apocrypha on it then a black screen, totaly stuck, had run time errors, virtual machine errors and some other stuff, so, i thought i'd roll back the installation... oh.. wait.. can't do, so i restored to before patch, now it says corrupt client, reinstall!!!, as if that wasn't bad enough when i went to uninstall the client, using the eve uninstall , not the control pannel one, the bloody uninstaller hung, Not responding!!!, i am officialy Pi**ed OFF

Rockets- fix them, ditto on the defenders Drones- if you cant make them smarter then at least dumb then down so they only do what they are told to do. Torps- only for sb'ers and maybe golems? seriously? Epics for other lvls would be cool- maybe even epics that encompass multiple lvls. Skill que- its awesome- but it would be even better if i could set a skill into que while training its prereqs Mining- it sucks, anything that would make it suck less would be great Anyway great job on the frequent fixes...

No problems with the patch. I see some people have issues.
1} Did you double check what your current patch level was? 2} Did you do any missing file / full file re-patching after getting concurrent failure messages? 3] Did you save your most receipt patches {prior today}with your system back up? Would restoring {if not to far back} then reloading the patch{s} work {is it hard to uninstall a patch that may not have been fully downloaded}

Ignoring a 10+ pages thread in the game development forum and pushing through a nerf of a game mechanic that has been validly used for 6! years without a single comment on the concerns is just plainly rediculous.
I am willing to accept changes and even nerfs, but i can except as paying customer to get an explanation, why CCP has decided change a major part of the game. The patch note does explain ****. In fact i consider "if a ship cloaks, all active modules that modify attributes, such as ECM, will stop immediately" a malicous delusion of the true nature of this nerf.

If a cloak is runniong that s normal that all module like this will end, at least because you can't target anymore for example.
it is often the case that old player complain about advantages they have over new player been readjusted to be equitable for all.

ARGHHH!!!!! Three patched characters, 3 black screens!!! This is not happy making atall, atall!
Still 27 mins left on a full reinstall. Tried cache clearing, tried settings clearing, tried praying to CPP, the god of funky patches... nothing works yet. Hope I'm not downloading a 2.1 GB file for nothing!
