I've started writing some EVE fiction and was wondering if I could get some help from the historians/storytellers of EVE.
The story is (with out giving away too much ) about a Khanid mechanic working onboard an Amarr Cruiser.
My question is; Would the Amarr ever concider letting a Khanid citizen on board their ship as a mechanic or is that like the Caldari navy letting a Gallente s****on their ships?
Mind you that the Khanid mechanic will be one of the lowest in the hiarchy on board.

Khanids and Amarri usually get along quite well together. While a little distant from the main culture, the two are still very close. I would imagine that a Khanid engineer would be welcome as there are some Amarr cruisers that use missile systems and the different perspective would be useful.

On a lower Level there is not much difference between Khanid and Amarr. The Khanid have likely a broader selection of Slaves, since they take Slaves from all Races. Also the Khanid would be a bit less traditional then the Amarr.
On a higher level things will get more complicated. I doubt that the Khanid warrior Aristocracy (Cyberknights) would mix well with the very traditional Holders of the Amarr. Also noble Amarr would see the Khanid secession as treason against the Empire, while the Khanid might wonder when Jamyl will try to reclaim them for the Amarr.
The relationship between both of them is very complicated, but since they work even at times together, for example during the capturing of Ex-Chancellor Karsoth, they are far away from open hostility, but also not really allied except when there are common enemies, like the Blood Raiders.

Once again I'll take this opportunity to clear out a common misconception regarding the Khanid Kingdom.
The Khanid Royal Family are from True Amarrian blood. This means that King Khanid, his family, and much of the ruling elite in the Kingdom are Amarrians. Upon being granted royal status, the family took the name Khanid to honour the Khanid people (who had settled the region the family had been granted).
The Khanid bloodline is not tied to the Kingdom, although I'd say a majority of the Kingdom's population is of the Khanid race. The Khanid also hail from Amarr Prime, and as such they can be found throughout the Empire in practically every tier of society.
Now, if the crewman is a National Khanid, I doubt an official Imperial agency would employ him. Individual corporations or capsuleers might, though. -----

My source is from Caldari Anti-Slaver missions so this may or may not be accurate. Still, apparently the Amarr have all kinds of legal restrictions on under what conditions slaves can be taken. Slaves cannot legally be taken from the State or the Federation only purchased by those willing to enter contractual slavery, for example. The Khanid have no such restrictions.
I do believe the fact that a Gallentian Pop-Singer was caught for the Royal Family of the Khanid is something of a point of contention between them and the Federation. *** Wisdom. Justice. Moderation. |

A lot of the information being tossed around here comes from the chronicle "The Khanid Kingdom" (to lazy to link right now). Anyway, the chron states that the Khanid are unusual for forcibly taking slaves from cultures other than Minmatar, suggesting in turn that the Amarr Empire took only from the Minmatar. I say 'took' because following a decree by Hederian VII (sp?), slaves can no longer be taken by force from anywhere outside Amarr Empire territory.
That said, there's this idea that the Empire and the Kingdom are in some kind of constant cold war. While relations aren't exactly cozy warm, there is a healthy amount of trade between the two suggested in-game and in news events. ----------------------------------------------
Say "Amarr ships suk, lol." I dare you.
