Edited by: Free Folen on 17/05/2009 10:59:43 hi
well i have -5 standing with Gal ,and i lost my drake because i wanted to try some pvp. and didn't know that the in-game info doesn't show tech 2 (or i was budged and being Nobie i don't know ships by name , Absolution vs Drake = dead drake even if u take the Absolution shields XD) back to topic: found a good contract that a little expansive but better than me spending time shopping with a war
the problem:
the contract is in gal space . i didn't know that so i went there with my ibis O_O got a couple of will shoot you in a couple of sec message but nobody shoot me though i was bugged so i tested with the ibis just idealing waited to get shoot, couple of minutes later i get shot , so i dock and after some consideration decided too make a run for it with a tank fitted drake
well 9 systems later i reached caldari space with couple of lock and shoot but 0 dmg (even to my Shields)
so the lesson of the day , -5 standing means nothing u just can't afk travel in enemy faction space , witch is normal when your war deced

Did you afk autopilot it or manually fly it? That makes all the difference.
If you're at the helm you'll be fine, if you afk it might cost you (it cost me a CovOps and a rigged Firetail [both with cargo] so fair, I should really pay more attention to my routes ).

I'd do a little more comprehensive testing than this before declaring that negative sec status means nothing. You've bareley sc****d the surface with your rookie ship test.

I think you're loosing standing really fast..
I've been playing less then 2 months and my disliked by sandings are: Guristas Pirats -5.05 Gallente Federation -5.00 Minmatar republic -3.58 Sansha's Nation -3.09
(Btw. Does Guristas and Sansha's standings means anything? Or is it only the Races like Gallente and minmatar that means anything??)

i did it with a drake 0_0
drake is the most sluggish ship in my nob life (maybe a badger is more sluggish ) but even if they hit me they all missed me , i think even a badger with cargo extenders can pass throw enemy region easily

Pirates have stations and agents just like the empires do. If your standing is super low, their agents will not speak to you. Working for pirate agents means access to mission in 0.0 space (something which is otherwise a lot more difficult to get), which means increased standing for doing tax-free refining/reprocessing, jump clones, and the LP store which gives access to pirate implants and faction ships.

Pirate standings is something I have been doing a lot of lately. As someone said above, pirate standings mean your Empire and Security standings dive fairly quickly but if you have your heart set on doing pirate runs (I'm currently working for Sansha's Nation) there is something critical to remember:
If the standings for Guristas, Blood Raiders and Sansha's Nation all drop below -4.99 (or -2.49 with Diplomacy V) you will *NEVER* be able to run missions for them.
This also applies to Angel, Serpentis and the other pirate faction whose name escapes me.

For the OP: you can also just make an alt your main's account, and use that character to move crap between systems/regions you are KOS and those you aren't. Same works for low sec status. Just have your alt move crap into lowsec for you, but be sure to scout the gate ahead of time.
In regards to pirate factions, there are really only three things they offer which you can't get from highsec mission running:
1) Faction XL ammo - used by Dreadnaughts and Large POS guns 2) Faction implants - Sanshas offer Slaves which are currently the most valuable by far 3) Faction ships - Sanshas are most popular, others vary and some near worthless
Pirate Impant guide: Angels - Halo, which are near worthless Bloods - Talisman, which are worthless Guristas - Crystal, which have value to some sub-capital active shield tankers Sansha - Slaves, which are most valuable Serpentis - Snakes, which used to be most valuable, but have dropped off since the speed nerf
Pirate Faction Ship guide: Angels - Machariel is popular, but never commanded top price, Cynabal worth less than Fleet Stabber Bloods - Bhaalghorn and Ashimmu have interesting web/neut bonus and decent price, demand is typically low Guristas - Gila is a terrible ship, and Rattlesnake is outclassed by a Caldari Navy Raven for PvE and the CNR is much cheaper, market is poor Sansha - Phantasm compares to Zealot and Harbinger, but people seem willing to pay ~200M for it based on its appearance, Nightmare also looks cool, sells for about 1B and for people who want to shield tank a laser battleship there is no other option Serpentis - Vigilant is a very expensive Thorax, and somewhat comparable to a Deimos, not much demand, and the Vindicator is generally outperformed by the much cheaper Megathron Navy Issue, again not a big demand
Notice a trend here? Yeah, Sanshas are by far the best pirate faction to mission for. The downside? Sansha missions are only available in Stain, which is located fairly deep in 0.0 - 12 jumps from HED-GP and about 15-20 from Doril. Beyond that, the region is home to several, competing NBSI alliances.
Perhaps the poster above can weigh in on how "safe" the region is to mission in.

I would answer this but I'm too busy being podded.
More seriously, 0.0 is a dangerous place for anyone to live and it goes double for mission running carebears such as myself. Part of the problem is that as a mission runner, your set up is usually different to that of a PvPer, meaning that PvPer that happens to be passing through is a major risk for you. Supplies in 0.0 are usually few and expensive and those available in large quantities can be between 20-30 jumps away through heavily populated systems.
I'm fairly fortunate in that I've managed to find a relatively quiet section of Stain with a high quality L1 agent. Granted the payouts and standing benefits are not outstanding but compared to Empire space, they pay a heck of a lot more. I have tried running L2 missions but as with L2 missions in Empire space, a system with a good quality agent is usually very busy.
If I had to offer some advice on 0.0 missioning it would be this:
* Your ship will be totalled within days of your arrival - guaranteed. * Fit nothing expensive or hard to replace as the market down here is awful. * Train Covert Ops and Cloak IV so that if you *do* have to go shopping, you have a better chance of getting your goodies home. * Some blueprints can be a good investment, especially if you use an ammunition based weapon system. Having the ability to build a ship yourself from mission leftovers saves making long risky journeys and potentially a lot of ISK in the long run. * Try to make some friends in the system you mission out of - if you can persuade even one of them to stop shooting you, its all to the good. * Corps are very much harder to get into as a missioner, especially if you don't have much PvP experience. * The major alliances in Stain (AAA, Stainless, Stain Empire amongst others) all operate a NBSI policy - if you happen to find yourself in a system with a lot of local residents, all in the same alliance, you will be in serious trouble if even one of them spots you - think piranhas in a tank and you get the idea.
Hope this helps.

I,m a few month player who restarted to go the pirate route. I also started a second account because a contact in high sec is a must for getting some items. First read Anyura's post and follow all that advice, my one addition is this. To get around in 0.0 , where there may be mobile warp disrupters you need to set up gate check points. You can warp to a gate from 150 km or more away so, when it is quite you need to drop a BM out there . That allows you to check the gate and not lose a mission item getting caught in a gate camp. My experience has been that there is nothing easy about this, Everyone will pod you on site, and you need to be committed to doing this. |

it is the exact same, except that players can shoot you (or more importantly scram you). in many places it doesn't mean anything. |
