Guys, if you get podded and say for example, lose half of your battlecruiser level 5 skill, so that it went back to level 4, would you still be able to fly a command ship after (remember BC5 is requirement for a CS)?

Yes. For any ship you only need the first skill listed in each of the primary, secondary, and tertiary boxes. For command ships that is "<racial> cruiser V" (primary), "command ships" (secondary), and "Heavy Assault Ships IV"/"Logistics IV" (tertiary).
All other skills that are listed are prerequisites for those skills, they're not required to fly the ship but they are needed to get there in the first place

You don't need the pre-requisites if you lose them after gaining the 'senior' skill as I call it, but it does mean you miss out on some bonuses.
e.g. Astarte bonus is 5% medium turret damage and 7.5% armour repair bonus per level of Battlecruiser skills. If you drop down a level of battlecruiser then you'd miss out on the bonus.
When I first saw this, I thought it was really weird that the bonus was even listed as you HAD to have battlecruiser to even get command ships, but then I found you could lose skills through podding and it made sense. ______________________ Isn't it time you learned to fight back? Edited by: Ruban Spangler on 10/08/2009 15:25:11 Something IÆve never worked out is whatÆs the point of losing skills if you donÆt have an updated clone? Your enemies donÆt get to know about it and you can't buy your way out of it so CCP canÆt sell more ISK. As far as I can see it is just a way for CCP to test our dedication to the game. ôLetÆs set the guy back 2 weeks and see if he staysö Anyway why cant the medical bay just automatically put me in an updated clone? Have they not heard of Direct Debits?
Rant over and getting back to the OP. When I foolishly left station without an updated clone and was podded, I lost part of Caldari BS 5 and was told that I could not fly my Golem until I had served my time.

That's because BS V is listed as the primary required skill to fly a Golem.
Cruiser V is listed as the primary required skill for a Command Ship. Battlecruisers V is only required as a pre-requisite skill for the secondary required skill of Command Ships. ______________________ Isn't it time you learned to fight back? Agony Unleashed Home of the PvP University.

The point is that in EVE all your actions have consequences. In many MMOs the consequences of death are little different than the consequences in an FPS. Hit space, respawn, and run over and kill the guy that killed you. The second point is it's an ISK sink. --
EVE is about balls, brains, and paranoia. SP comes in a distant fourth place. |
