Hello.
I'm looking for a 'howto' or outright help on doing this. I know how to do CSS stuff, but I don't know anything about coding php from scratch and I'm assuming that the linked example of what I want is a php thing... if it isn't, that shows how little I know about php.
Can anybody halp? I've googled and searched eve-dev and gone everywhere else I can imagine, and out of the hundreds (thousands?) of EVE-O related web-based gadgets, nobody seems to have done this except for GoonSwarm.
TIA

This should be pretty easy and I guess it can be done via XSTL.
If you've been at EVE-Dev, you haven't looked hard enough: http://wiki.eve-id.net/APIv2_Corp_Standings_XML -- EVEWalletAware - an offline wallet manager |

I looked quite hard. And I saw what you linked there. But it didn't help me. Do you know why it didn't help me? I'll point you to the OP, where I write:

What you linked is great and all, but wtf do I do with it?
TIA
EDIT: For emphasis, I've never even heard of XSTL. Sounds like it has something to do with Seattle...

I think he meant XSLT which is Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations which can be use to change XML based data like the APIs into any other XML like output i.e. a HTML webpage. IMHO doing it that way would be harder than using one of the API libraries that are available and some kind of server side programming with PHP or others. Hopefully if you do decide to make something like what GoonSwarm did you make one without the 800+ error in the HTML that they have.
As an added note if you don't know some kind of programming you'll be very limited in what you can do with the API data as all of it needs some kind of transformation to it to make it into information that most people would find useful. -- Finds camping stations from the inside much easier. Yes, of course, that's what I meant. I hate those typos. To be precise, this is it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xslt#Example_2_.28transforming_XML_to_XHTML.29
And, yes, I noted your comment about not knowing PHP but being familiar with CSS, that's why I mentioned XSLT. In a broader sense, XSLT is to XML what CSS is to HTML: A definition of how content (XML for XSLT, HTML for CSS) should be rendered/interpreted by the browser. It's not the easiest thing around, but it doesn't require any (server side) programming.
I wish I was familiar enough with XSLT to show you a little example, but I'm afraid I'm not. -- EVEWalletAware - an offline wallet manager |

It's a lead I can sniff out, at least - thanks!
In the meantime, if anybody else savvier than me should happen to stumble on this post, please feel free to keep info coming!
I hate being so not-proficient with this stuff... so many great things you can do with API if you just know how.

Well no matter how you're going to format your ourput, you need to access the API somehow - and that means PHP/ASP.
You'll either have to learn PHP yourself (assuming you're not one of those wierdos that uses ASP), or get someone to do it for you. I'd be happy to help you out for a small fee.

Shameless plug The other route you can take is something like Yapeal where if you know something about databases and SQL you may not need to know any PHP at all as it takes care of moving the data from the API XML into a MySQL database for you. From there you can use anything that can talk to the DB to form your pages i.e. PHP, ASP, .NET, JAVA, JSP, etc. which you may already know or know someone that does. -- Finds camping stations from the inside much easier. Hit me up ingame. I'm no multibillionaire, but if it's reasonable I'd like to get this done.

To be fair, that depends on mastergamer's terms and whether he wants it to be public or not, but if you're willing to share the cost with me then I don't see why I couldn't share the product with you
