And while allegories of life's long journeys are well and good, sometimes all you want is a nice, dark, sh**-kicking horror story.
This is a new entry in our chronicle series, published on Monday every other week.

Awesome chronicle , rly. CCP really needs some CG or WiS engine based movies with such stuff.

Excellent chronicle. One of my favorites so far actually. It's always nice to have the arrogant humbled from time to time. The picture is awesome too. Would make for a nice wallpaper or even a poster/wall scroll. |

Good story, /agree with the man above me. its always a better choice to nuke it from orbit. Claim there were infected furbies or whatever that mission was, and you had to eradicate the station or else they would get out into the world and kill the normal furbies.

Nice Story Abraxasas.
Can you tell me on which planet this happened. I want to know in case Orbital Bombardment becomes an option in a future expansion.

I almost felt like I was reading something I'd written before.
Very well written and from a different viewpoint to my take on a sani sabik population. I'm sure there's hundreds of ways to write the different nightmares sani sabik can conjure. Yours was certainly a nice slash-horror style
I think I'll have to try my hand at a second take on Sani Sabik, if just to fill some other horrorstory requirements. I certainly feel that the blooding process I described in Balas has been given a certain degree of PF authentication with this particular chron.

Edited by: Schmell on 19/05/2009 19:14:11 Still in process of reading, but i must say
"The last surprise before everything went wrong was a quick communication from the agent. We'd been told there would be total communications blackout once we landed - not that we needed to worry about the locals, but there might be things in space listening out for our passage - and so the message was short, terse and not all that comforting. "New data. Bad place. Tribe long-term poisoned from minerals. Every fourth child dies in its crib. Iconic analysis shows Sani Sabik influence. Get in and get out.""
Don`t kno why, but this part gave me the creeps Good work

I have become an avid fan of these stories over the past few months, and always await "the next one" with anticipation. I like the moral(?) that you always have a choice, might not be a good choice, but still a choice!
Question: Was the implication that if he drank the blood of his team mate, then he would survive? Was processed blood an antiode to the mineral poisoning? If so, then why did so many of the population, who were drinking the blood, at the "service", still poisoned? Kemmek

Absolutely, but not for the next couple months.

It all starts with Lovecraft, really. Him, Poe, Clark Ashton Smith, and maybe a bit of Fritz Leiber.

Yes, he would and yes, it was. The blood is an antidote, not a cure, so he would have to drink it for the rest of his life. Same goes for the tribe, whose health is dependent on the priests (who themselves can presumably imbibe whenever they like) giving them enough blood for basic sustenance.
I always found (Eucharist) communion a little creepy, to be honest.

The lack of small unit tactics of the raiding party proved their undoing.
A combat patrol would have had a point man 50-75 meters ahead, depending on the terrain and visibility. Other members would have had at least a 10 meter separation, to prevent any large man-trap from capturing more than one or two individuals.
The natives were rather civilized in their way, giving each captive options and realizing assimilation of a human asset is wiser than immediate slaughter.
Enjoyed the imagery and the story. Would hazard to guess the corporate types wanting the ore would find a more brutal way of dealing with the indigenous population in the near future, our protaganist might just get out of there yet.

Short film format would be most excellent. 2nd that!
Also, the portrait is more of a spoiler than anything. Maybe the enshrined capsule-temple with the little lights all around would have been more mystique-inducing?

Probably a Bloodraider?
I wonder if these People are Miners.
Also, I want to hear more Stories about the true Sani Sabik, because as far as I understand from the Idol News a while back are the Blood Raiders extremists.
