Here am I reflecting on the meaning of life, listening to space music and trying to help fellow players build their shiny ships by selling minerals to them at rock bottom prices (pardon the pun )

And the thanks I and my fellow hard working miners get, for all the effort we put in to help our fellow players to build their shiny ships with our minerals is..........................Hulkageddon

There is so much stockpiled ore from miners and bots past that mining today is simply ************. Some sort of sad self fulfillment to make your own items when its more time efficient to shoot a few bounties and buy the item out right that had already been made from a cache of trillions of minerals that never dwindles as future scrubs keep adding to it after the fact for dirt cheap as they cant understand the fact that time equals isk and believes that since they mined it that its free money. Which any sane individual will see as a mind numbing futile goal if they are looking for profit. |

But guys you don't get it, mining is something you can do in Eve while doing ten other things like washing the dishes, vaccuming the room, video calling friends, unpacking the shopping, helping your brother win Plants vs Zombies on another monitor!! Life is then so much more interesting then.
If you only PVP, thats all you can do; PVP, cos you of turn away for a sec, you could be popped.

You are half-playing, and thats the cool thing for people who like to do many things at the same time, can't do that with PVP.

Miners don't get to play real life as much as anyone else in EVE.
Keeping your PC running and checking on it for long hours keeps you tethered to your home / apartment. Sure, you can do other things, to a point. Mining is very time consuming and thus half-playing is limiting both in game and outside it. The alternative is to bot, which is bannable.
By contrast, everyone else can log in and log out as they please, experienced condensed entertainment or sit around as they please, then hop off and hit the pub. No tether. TEST Alliance BEST Alliance |

By contrast, everyone else can log in and log out as they please, experienced condensed entertainment or just chat, then hop off and hit the pub. No tether. This is why people look at miners and scoff. the few that are actually people playing are literally throwing their time away for chump change, and thinking they're making a profit, not realizing that time is a valuable resource, and they could make far more ISK via other means, and then buy far more minerals, in the same timeframe.
I was just messing around when I said that, in my opinion you shouldn't be playing the game for any benefit you make, there's no reason why say...you can have sex and still make a decent amount of Isk. But mining works just like that, just leave your ship your ship at an asteroid for long enough and the magic happens.
Seriously needs some kind of re-haul though..I don't think anybody should be rewarded for being away from their PC because that alone breeds security, which is what this game shouldn't be about, need to always be on your toes and constantly using Directional Scan. I'm just a noob though, what would I know about the inner workings on EvE. :P |

If you only PVP, thats all you can do; PVP, cos you of turn away for a sec, you could be popped. I see. Let me tell you a story, then.
A couple of years ago, while I was still in college, I was running the usual trifecta of empire wars. One of them was against an alliance with a member count between 200 and 300 people. We usually did one alliance war along with two corporation wars, to maximize targets and minimize costs. We tried to pool our targets in a compact area as well.
One day, I was camping outside the alliance target's HQ, with the targets in the system numbering in the upper teens, and more in the surrounding system. I had a late afternoon class that day, and reluctantly resigned myself to going. The class was great, but when I came home, I was a little tired, not having slept at all the previous night. I decided to take a quick nap.
Waking up six hours later, blurry-eyed, I sat down at my computer. The EVE Online window in the taskbar quickly caught my eye. Snapping awake, I immediately though "****, ******* **** ****." Furthermore, "****, ****, goddamnit, *****-ass ****." I didn't feel like clicking it. "Well, I guess it's just about time for the ol' rage-quit anyway."
I clicked the icon. "Yeah, escape menu. But why isn't the blurry background that of a station interior?" I hit escape. Still outside. Still in the Ishtar. Still in my clone with the high-grade Slave set in it. The number of war targets in local was three. A few seconds later, one logged off.
I closed EVE, and opened WoW. |

Don't do it kids, it will screw you up. This is your brain while mining. WoW holds your hand until end game, and gives you a cookie whether you win or lose. EVE not only takes your cookie, but laughs at you for bringing one in the first place... |

So youre saying miners don't log on/off when they please?? Say wut?? You can't seriously think ALL miners sit there for hours on end making pathetic isk, mining crokite or other high end mierals will make you a plex quite soon, and you dont have to sit there 23.5/7 at all.
And if players have High Pi skills in nullsec, mining is simply a bonus isk rewards, Plex is covered Evelopedia;-á

I have always found mining very relaxing, listening to the hum of my lasers while reading a book, watching TV, or chatting with fellow corp members.
On the big mining ops we used to have, we would tell jokes, have quizzes, and generally discuss EVE and all it's interesting happenings.
Nothing wrong with mining every now and again. |
