It is probably the most obvious fact thrown in our faces of late that CCPs QA department is lacking some much needed ability to perform the tasks they have been given.
If the current patch had been tested sufficiently then this bug would have been picked up prior to release rather than a game breaking issue currently being rife.
Is it not about time that CCP finnaly realized that the QA department they currently have is lackluster and incapable of doing the job they are meant to do?
Before people jump on the brown-nose bandwagon, i have previous experiance in the QA field - The bugs of late that have 'got through the net' are absolutley horrific and should never have got past the first sift let alone to the finnal release! I understand eve is a game with many major faceuts, nooks and cranies that bugs can hide in - but - the last few that have come onto the live server have been things that should have been on the primary sift list.
Ontop of what i have already said, eve is a huge game, so CCP need a QA department that scales with the complexity of eve, otherwise when the new games start to come (Jumpgate, STO) they will guaranteed start losing players.
Time to pull those trousers up and take your finger from out of that hole it is in imo.

IBTL. Theres no point posting threads like this as you'll just get told to post in existing feedback threads.

The current thread is a designated thread for the 'jump relog' bug.
This thread is regarding the QA department and its lack of bug-catching in the past few patches.

Edited by: Grez on 21/05/2009 13:05:31 No matter how much QA you do, you simply cannot squash all the bugs. Singularity, although in a similar configuration, is no-where near as complex as Tranquility (she has RAMSAN's and many more blades).
There will always be teething problems, and unforeseen problems when implementing patches with low-end changes.
You, and much of the gaming world have A LOT to learn about software development.
How do you prepare for unforseen? You don't, you deal with it as best you can if it comes. --- Grez: I shot the sheriff Kalazar: But I could not lock the Deputy BECAUSE OF FALCON |

I suspect that it could be a case of people in various departments (not just QA) having their hands tied or not being listened to.
Huge amounts of feedback from the player base can be gained from SISI, the game development forums and the forums in general before & after changes go live- the community is vocal to say the least & it's not hard for a CCP employee to sort the wheat from the chaff & report back internally.
It could just be that people are under huge amounts of pressure, too few people trying to do too much etc., and the resulting stress/panic leads to breakdown in communication between teams or department resulting in the recent path "unpleasantness"

This patch was tested internally not hitting Singularity long enough to be tested properly. During the deployment they have the time to do a final test of the new code while it is live on the server and if it does not meet requirements then it is rolled back - This is how it should be done.
Your post is neither informed or productive. This is not how you develop a continual progressing piece of software, this is how you destroy the fundamental driving force behind it (the community).

Edited by: Grez on 21/05/2009 13:24:46 AFAIK this is due to one of the low-end changes made to the game during its time on Singularity.
I got this from the #eve-chaos channel on IRC from one of the dev's there. Not sure where you got yours.
What I'm trying to say is, no matter how many people are on the ball, and do their job 100% right, sometimes you get problems. Singularity may show no issues at all, but the moment TQ is patched it can go ****-up, all from a simple configuration issue.
Anything can happen. And rolling back is not always the best answer. --- Grez: I shot the sheriff Kalazar: But I could not lock the Deputy BECAUSE OF FALCON |

In life try as we might things are rarely perfect.
Also all MMO's see a decline in numbers when a similar MMO comes out. But I can Guarantee those MMO's will be full of bugs as well, but that wont stop me from trying them.
The most that can be said here is: Someone/some people dropped the ball...ok try to do better next time.

I agree things aren't 100%, but they're better than post-patch time 4 years ago and downtime is considerably shorter! Plus, if there are things that you don't like about Eve, click HERE because it will help. |

Which bug ? Because your post sounds like a total loser on a soapbox trying to get on a bandwagon to be relevant after being kicked in the nuts by his own ppl who got sick of his bull**** - how many corps were leaving with you from puppets to help you form your own alliance ?
