Does anyone know of any good laptops within the price range of $1200-1600 that would be able to run Eve at +60fps? My current laptops around three years old, and its definitly time for an upgrade. However, I'm really not sure what to look for, and whether what im looking for is ridiculously overpriced or not.
Before you ask, it really has to be a laptop, really need the mobility.

I would have...except this topic is EVE related as one of my main prioritys is that the laptop MUST run Eve very well. As well as be able to be used for, just about everything else I do.
The most "excessive" actions i tend to do though is running Two eve clients + photoshops and playing music and clicking around the forums, which my laptop is really not able to do... well lol.

Is that 60+ FPS with all possible options at the lowest settings and many (less-than-relevant) things disabled... or is that 60+ FPS with everything enabled and all possible settings on highest ? And is that 60+ FPS in or around a station, or in the middle of a 500-man fleet fight ? You know, details, details...

From reviews of laptops on newegg it seems quite a few eve players have bought thier laptop there and from the results garnered from the reviews it seems that a GMA 4500M integrated graphics card is sufficient to run eve will all the bells and whistles at a playable framerate or at 60fps with lowish settings. However other modern titles don't do nearly as well or are completely unplayable(except for F.E.A.R. which runs at 88fps as tested oddly enough) on that chipset but if eve is your main game then even a budget $500 laptop will suffice.

I found a nice one for you from MSI:
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/17-MSI-GT725-210UK-20GHz-Intel-Core-2-Quad-Q9000-4GB-Mem-500GB-HDD-BD-ROM-Vista-Home-Pre
Specifications Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000 2GHz Memory: 4GB HD Capacity: 500GB Display: 17" Graphics Card: ATi HD4850 512MB Optical Drive: BD-ROM Operating System: Vista Home Premium
The price is ú1,322.47 Inc VAT. Not sure what the exchange rate is but I guess it will match your upper limit. Still, it is a nice, big display with a fast graphics card. -- If there is anything in your life you fear of losing, then keep your mouth shut once in a while. |

you even get your own support hotline with the HDX line of laptops.
Lets see.. using xpbargins.com you can get 20-30% off with a coupon.
you get a 18 inch screen with 1900x1200 rez 8GB DDR3 ram 1Gb Graphics card Gforce 105M Duo core 2.66 cpu (upgradable to a quad core 2.66) 1Tb of harddrive space :P
it's all about 1,500-2000$ with the coupon.
I got my HDX dragon and even though I had some issues with customer support in the past with my zd8000, having my own line to talk to english speaking people that are all in the same room in canada is so helpful, you have no idea.
I love it, you never even feel the heat out of these huge laptops.

NEVEr buy an alienware, they have the sa,me support number as dell. In fact it is a deel...
ok let me explain it easily.
alienware laptop with 2GB of ram on thier site. You can upgrade to 8Gb of ram for... 800$
Hp HDX 18t laptop with 2Gb odf ram on thier site. You can upgrade to 8Gb of ram for 400$
Everything on an alien ware is expensive as hell to upgrade. If you do with alien ware you get some fun perks however. Like the keyboard, which can light up in any color you want, and is light senitive, so when the lights go off the laptop lights up.
It's also got more style and it's way more show off than any hp or dell laptop.
Speaking of which, use that same XP bargin site and go for the M1300 dell laptop to get a good deal too.
You can get a 14 inch laptop screen with
Duo Core 2.4 intel CPU 320Gb harddrive space 512Mb 9600M Graphics card 4Gb DDr2 ram
for like 900-1000$

i concure alienware yuk
best to look for a laptop with a plug in video card, yes they are now starting to be released, but are expensive and hard to find, but they offer a good future for modding/updating the graphics capabilitys of laptops.
(they have been intoduced after the fiasco with the NV graphics ship failures cost the laptop manufactures a fortune with scrapped motherboards.)
gonna be paying a lot for a top end lappy with awsome graphics, i haven't really looked at top end ones but NV has a heavy presence there, hopefully AMD will be catching up just depends on how well they can underclock thier top end GPU's to fitt in a desktop replacement laptop.
