I followed several discussions about the fact that miners/traders/mission runners think about, that the gankers and griefers where cuddled by CCP. My thoughts about this is ... definitly EVE has become a dumping ground for gankers and griefers which where cast away and banned from other online games because of there habbits.
The Fraktion of 90 years old gankers with parkinson desease has problems to target a transport ship ... CCP is happy to rise the align time and lower the speed of the ship.
A T2 HAC pilot is threatend by a hulk he tries to kill ... no problem we reduce the traget range and rise the penalty of warp core stabelizers over 150%
About 90% of the players dont want to leave the High sec anymore because of crazy-shooter-gangs who destroye everthing that come in there way.
I play eve for a long time now (this is not my first character and account) and over the time the pvp-faction where cuddled and had get blowed sugar into there a..es. The warp scambler need to much CPU so you cant fit another one ... no problem ... we rise the value of the scrambler to +3 AND lower the CPU usage. You are to stupid to scramble a hulk ... thats no problem we change the design of the hulk so that no warp core stab can be fitted.
So now I'm looking very interested about the comments of the pvp-faction who is clearly the most misunderstood and suffering faction within eve.
Edit: this thread is not about ending pvp in eve or nerfing high, low or 0.0 ... this thread is only to start a discussion about the heavy imbalance between non-pvp- and pvp-ships and how it can be fixed. Please feel free to discuss

Warp scramblers and disruptors should prompt a pop up for the target, "Do you want to be engaged in PVP action"

Credit where credit is due. You are a good troll.
You are an idiot if you think there is an imbalance between a non-pvp and pvp ship. One is designed to kill with maximum efficiency. If a fight is fair - you are doing it wrong... end of discussion
Now go and hide under your bridge little troll.

Originally by: lollerwaffle To me, a 'carebear' would be defined as someone who is risk averse, will do anything in their means to avoid any risk, and cry/moan/whine about to CCP and demand that gameplay mechanics be changed to suit their needs.
By this definition, there are many so-called pirates that are carebears. These forums are full of carebear pirates whining and asking to have the game changed in their favor. Nerf highsec. Nerf missions. Nerf cloaks. Moar targets in low sec plox! And all the hatred towards hisec and its players.

In the end, it all comes down to a quote I saw in someone's sig, which sums up EVE better than anything else:
"If it is too hard, you are too weak."

Oh yes...and something else that also fits well: "You're doing it wrong."

This is just my 2 cents into this discussion. In any game where you have pve and pvp all mixed together you can never have balance. If you add something to one aspect you always end up changing the play style of the other one. Problem with PVP players for the most part is they never can understand the "carebear" aspect of a game or why someone wants to play it, for the pvp'er empire space is zero fun 95% of the time, ( there is war dec's on noob corps and the occasional freighter gank)
Also what they dont understand is that without the carebears of eve doing there thing in empire there is no eve, most things are bought/sold/built in empire.
Im ok with griefing/ganking/theft/scams so long as there is a way to "punish" the offender
My main beef right now is salvage thieves who salvage mission loot, 90% of them are in npc corps so you cant war dec them and 98% of them dont have the "balls" to take the loot too so you cant shoot at them, its free money for them, with no risk. I have a work around for it but i still would like the choice to shoot them. After all Eve is a pvp game so let us fight for the salvage.
Its been my observation in lowsec/0.0 is that there are way to many roving gangs of various size/shape to rat or mine/mission in those area's. Granted ive not lived everywhere in 0.0 and i do know there are backwater area's but most space is hotly contested and virtually useless if you want to make isk via mining and ratting, ive seen days where you spend 3.5 hrs docked or hiding in a station as various gangs roam around due to the fact that your alliance pvp happy folks are out on a roaming op some where else.
PVP and PVE will never mix never has and never will.

Let me tell you of a magical place in EvE where you can mission away just like in Dodoxie or Motsu... but if any vile knave dares show his face in your mission area, you are free -nay, encouraged! -to shoot him down like the cur he is. CONCORD will not lift a finger to save him! Your sec status will remain pure and unblemished!
Is this a myth, you ask? Some very heaven spoken of only by poets, never by navigators?
No!
Set your navicomp to the distant regions of Venal or Curse or Stain and seek therein...

this thread needs more derailing, but less of the insults ladies!
my derail contains some ideas that I have not bothered to think through cause I know you'll all get right to it for me :
- purge all wcs from the database (but leave such bonuses on ships with it). - drop the concept of selling characters (no transfers). This is just high reward with zero risk. Needs to vanish like all other high reward with zero risk activities in a pvp mmo - remove GTCs, only allow plexs (cause there is some risk with selling plexs, none with gtcs) - remove all named mods leaving t1, t2, t3, faction mods (named stuff is just filler for poorly designed ships anyway). - remove any nerf on t2, so its actually better than t1, but not quite as good as faction - 1/2 every ships hit points - make it impossible to get over 80% resists - drop warp to zero and bar bookmarks within 150km of gates and stations - unchain pos from sov - make the place you arrive on the other side of a gate larger, but to activate, make that way smaller (500m) - make smart bombs effective up to 20km - increase cost of clone insurance by a factor of 10 or always make getting podded cost you 100% of the training done since you last docked and 'synchronized' with your medical clone - make undock and redock impossible without first leaving the grid - make undock location random 360 around station in any direction - never remove local, this is the only reason I never go into worm hole space. My opinion is that it sucks way too much to 'not know for sure' if there is anyone in there. So, faced with the fact i will never know, I just don't go. - introduce more ships in the BC / Destroyer classes. Don't give a monkeys what they do. Why not make the destroyer classed salvager and bc classed a tanker with say 3 gun slots. I dunno I'm not that creative though - also, make it so that there is a way to do damage to multiple opponents. Like a different firing mode, shorter range, but fans out and hits everything (Like a smart bomb, but not so retarted) to allow you to confuse blobs as to who was picked as primary lol
I've been playing some other games lately, these are just some idle thoughts about what I'd like to see in eve.
day dreams are fun though!

Well... fine. It was better before some group decided to suicide mining barges in empire.
Probably wasn't around back then (my main is still pretty green), but why didn't a few core defence field extenders and DC II help? Would have thought a little buffer goes a long way.

There is still risk in Empire, but far, far less then before.
Indeed, it's not as risky as I'd like it to be, that much I'll happily agree too. At least you may still get ganked when transporting a bil or more through Niarja... if you're dumb enough to fly a T1 industrial.

EVE favors passive non-confrontational gameplay more than PVP.
EVE is still however something of a PVP Mecca amongst MMORPG's
If you don't like this, choosing my words with care- Sod off and play something else you vile carebear.
EVE is not for you

I'm a bit of a carebear when it comes to eve, but I find that living in low-sec and having to avoid all manner of griefers and pirates is actually a lot of fun. I've lost ships (mostly due to nubbage), but its all a learning experience. There's much more fun to be had when there's risk involved IMHO, even if its just avoiding pirates rather than pew pew.
I advise getting out of high sec for a while and into low sec / 0.0. You will lose ships, you will not be able to AFK mine, but its great fun.

Where do people get this nonsense that 90% of the player population lives in high sec? Beyond the huge 0.0 alliances and other who live in null sec, there are militia piolets, and a huge number of small low sec corps, and beyond that there are all the pirates who live out in low sec as well. Second a lot of the high sec operators are alts of the people who live in low sec. There may be more people in high sec but it's not such an overwhelming majority, or such a cohesive politic body, that it all the sudden trumps what actually makes this game worthwhile.

Why ya'll want free cookies, FFS, play the game the way it is meant. The boogieman in low sec is fairly easy to avoid, if you aren't a complete reject.
Maybe, you should resynch your scanners, you may just be doing it wrong.
