Grids! They can be both frustrating, and awe inspiring. But what is a grid, exactly? A grid is simply a set of objects in space that can be seen from other objects in space. That's all. Grid manipulation makes it possible to make things like 1,000km warp-ins on grids with a target, grids in grids, and oddly shaped grids in order to do stuff in. Like gank people on gates!
Without further ado, I am pleased to present the grid manual, brought to you in part, by LOL GOONIES. Have fun, new eden. Also, screw TrevorReznik.

As always; Goon EVE documentation is vastly superior to CCP EVE documentation.

I would say that this is an amazing feature and not an exploit.
Grid manipulation needs skills, dedication and good understanding of what you are doing.
It offers some great strategical advantages if prepared properly. On the other hand, grid manipulation is pretty easy to detect if you know what you are looking for.
Hiding forces in grids can also be discovered with on-board scanner or probes. So no big deal either.
It really IS a feature.
Thanks for the docs Goons.

I seem to remember something about it being an exploit to drop lots of objects at a POS to expand the grid around it.

Damm good read. Good stuff in there.
Makes me wonder what, if anything, CCP can, or indeed want to do now this information is out in the public eye.
One group keeping this information close to them (Goons) is in some way ok as CCP know nothing about it and that one group use the information. Now it's out in the open will CCP have to act? Indeed, can they if they wanted too? This exposes the game mechanics for in-game benefit (Is that the definition of an exploit?) Is too much knowledge a bad thing?
I believe it's impossible for CCP to do anything about this even if they wanted too and those people who want to exploit this knowledge will have a significant advantage.
Makes me wonder why this was released by the Goons.

Indeed... this has proven to be a pleasantly unexpected moment of genius from the unlikeliest of sources. Has this already been classified as an exploit though?

Awesome. That clears a few things up.
Any idea why on some gates the grid seems to be a bit off centre?

Based on that doc, and if I were to guess: because some other object is the primary place-holder — be it a sentry gun, a billboard, an asteroid spawn point or some other static item. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

I would think that grid creation is such a low lvl process that it would be a nightmare to change how it works.

Maby, maby not. But this is kinda the edge on abuse of game mechanics imo.

I think this is soo ******ed I don't even have words. However, I blame CCP. Grids has been like this since 2003.
I was thinking of making a thread named "Why do grids move?", but I don't have to now. My theory of grid movement was wrong, this however is right.
