The reason why ambulation will happen.
If you disagree with this reason, well you cant disagree with this reason.
The reason of PVC Clad Buttocks squeaking eloquently along as you go to undock?
Reason enough IMO.
Well, that and Ambulation is not just being made for EVE. But we'll go over this time and again - even when Ambulation makes it into EVE, people will still be screaming "REASONS WHY AMBULATION IS DEAD" etc.

Look at EVE now, we have tons of features that appeal to only a part of the playerbase. I mined for 5 minutes in my EVE career and then I faked mining for 10 minutes to look like a juicy target for pirates in low sec. ( it worked, they got owned. Fun times). Mining, is not for me. And pvp is not for everyone.
Ambulation will be the same, if you donŠt want to walk in stations then donŠt walk in stations. If you donŠt want to mine, blow up the miners. If you donŠt like WiS, buy up all the establishments and keep them empty( its probably possible but it will cost you rent money) If you donŠt want to pvp, donŠt pvp and run missions and have mining ops together and hire security.
Welcome to a sandbox game.

Welcome to a sandbox game.
A true sandbox game would let us blow the brains out of ambulees (or torch them with flame throwers).

That's funny.
So because the op doesn't want to walk around in space stations no one else is allowed to do that? LOL
Here is a hint: Walking in stations is OPTIONAL. You don't like it? Then don't do it.
The problem with WiS I see is the lack of content. Mini-games are good, but not good enough. Fitting a bar with furnitures? Not nearly good enough! I guess it would be similar to fitting a pos, yay, the fun...
WiS needs realy strong ties with the rest of the Eve-universe. NOT like factional warfare, NOT like wormholes. Both introduced more or less independent playgrounds - and that is bad.
I really really hope for a lot more eve-related content, here just two ideas:
1) giving own missions to players and in reward earning some lp and rewards from the faction which the station owns.
2) Ambulation TV
And please please PLEASE CCP, TAKE YOUR TIME!! Don't release half-finished stuff which lacks lots of content and is only a sceleton, please wait until you have lots of stuff and tested everything properly.

You just guaranteed 10 times more grinding in Empire, as it takes several times more grinding to be able to attain wealth for actually going to low sec. You just decreased the amount of players that would wander to low sec.
I think however that ambulation should die. I heard it does not have (non-concentual) PVP. It's as such worthless.

OP is ******ed. Don't nerf L4s, it's the oldest cry in the book and it appeals only to a primitive desire to change things, not do anything that actually helps the situation. It's like saying, "OMG Look! The market is doing great, quick kill all the rich peoples businesses!"
L4s are not the problem, in fact they are probably one of the only things keeping the game alive. The real problem is something I've always said, there isn't enough isk coming in. People will only risk combat generally when they are with a large number of people or the odds are very obviously in their favor. You aren't going to change this by making it harder for people to make money.
What needs to be done is that other means to make isk need to open up, which make more isk than L4s. If you want people to risk combat more, give them the peace of mind they can actually replace their ship without taking a week off work to play. Until then, there will always be a huge divide between the tax and industry incomes of null-sec established alliances/corps and the ability of the smaller corps and individual players to replace their ships and modules. And the smaller guys will just fight less.
If you honestly believe nerfing L4s will have any effect that is desirable to better gameplay for all of us, then re-examine your ability to logically deduce outcomes.. because you fail miserably.

it should be easy to add ambulatory PvE content via mission agents... many possibilities open up when you combine out-of-station operations with in-station operations...
for example the agent could send you to station X and you have to find some NPC inside it someplace. or maybe even ask around inside different stations to find where a certain NPC in located... reminds me of carmen sandiego...
mini-games by themselves might be little more than a novelty, but if they are part of some mission objective they would have purpose and meaning. for example the agent could send you to station X to find an item, and you have to do some kind of puzzle or something to get it.
~~~~~ Remember, EVE is a sandbox and other MMOs are rock gardens. Pretty rocks can be collected, but collecting sand is pointless. Instead build a sandcastle and keep it from being knocked down. |
Originally by: Armoured C CCP has its own team working on this. The bug team is completely separate for Ambulation. Plus, how are artists, model makers and level designers going to fix bugs?
They are a separate team with separate skills.
It is happening.
If you don't like it, well, you can un-sub and protest about it. Yeah, that would show them!
While the comment about artists and designers is correct, this isn't going to be true for the coders. This is the generic cop-out response people always give when the argument of features versus bug fixes comes up in any piece of software.
I would rather CCP put the same amount of time and effort into the server sol node software to make it multi-CPU capable, perhaps even multi-node capable. We shouldn't have to petition and cross our fingers to have a node reinforced just to have a fleet fight. Epic fleet battles are what EVE is all about for many of us, and we shouldn't have to (and often can't) plan where a battle will take place days in advance.
Wait I thought walk in stations was just converting the regular old NPC stations into walk in ones. What is this about purchasing and paying rent to own them?
Does this x-pac = eve's player housing?
