Edited by: Ademaro Imre on 28/05/2009 01:15:00 The eve client is causing some sort of interference with my headphones and I am getting a heavy static through them whenever the Eve client is running. Sound is fine when output is to my speakers from the Eve client, and sound is fine through my headphones when I am not running Eve. When I mute sound, the static still occurs.
Anyone have any ideas or experienced this before?

Edited by: Sir Substance on 28/05/2009 01:25:20 Edited by: Sir Substance on 28/05/2009 01:24:14 a few protips for a post asking for technical help:
1. give us specifications.
for starters, what is your sound card, and what is the same of the software suite it uses, if any?
2. tell us what you have tried already, so we dont repeat what you ahve already done.
3. tell us what peripherals you are using.
i cannot diagnose your problem from the description "i get static".
i can make static come over my headphones by plugging a cable from my mic to my line in, then turning the wave device on, which anyone who knows about sound cards should realize makes no sense. but i doubt this is your problem.
details man, details!
edit: other things you can tell us: operating system any unusual codecs you have installed have you ever used voice changer software? you cant give us too much information!

how loud are we talking, a very noticeable very real loud static noise? or something you can only hear when nobody is talking and you have no music on? ----------------------

I would say whisper loud, but enough to be very annoying. Pitch changes to a higher frequency in full screen mode.
When in windowed mode, it goes away completely when I click and keep the mouse clicked on on the windows bar beside the eve logo.

Well, no idea what the problem is, but if I connect the headphone to the rear panel, the static goes away.
Other than this - I have no issues with sound. Music plays through the front panel beautifully, except that when Eve is running, its causing static even with sound muted.

Sounds like electrical noise from your video card to me. The cabling to your front panel is picking it up maybe?

It's a CCP conspiracy, what the static really is are subliminal messages telling you to subscribe multiple accounts and give CCP all your money.

Edited by: Sir Substance on 28/05/2009 03:53:51 ah yes, realtek.
tell me, does the static go away when you earth yourself on the case?
also, try turning the microphone boost off, and moving the mic to the rear audio port.
edit: just noticed you said it goes away if you move the phones to the rear port.
i had something similar, and turning off mic boost fixed it.

Edited by: mr passie on 28/05/2009 07:15:46 you sure its not your fc shouting how much you fail?
I do that all the time, and yes fail is a pretty mild term that doesn't compare with my actual shouting

This happens to me as well. Specifically when I bring up the map, or when the hull damage fire effect is present on screen. It happens through both speakers and headphones alike - a loud popping and clicking following by a muted hiss. Goes right away as soon as I close the map, though.

I get this too. I made a post on the issues forum but no one gave a flying fedo about it.
The interference IS related to whats on screen.
With my machine - (Which is sounding out through a Creative XFI Fatal1ty Soundcard connected to KRK Rokit RP10 into RP5s) the pitch of the noise will change with whats on screen. Spinning a ship creates a buzzy little siren. It is noticeably loud for me.
I think its actually more of a hardware fault at this time, as I get it in other applications too. EVE is pretty much the worst for it - but I also get it in Source Engine applications as well. Killing Floor screams like bloody murder on the menu screens.
As far as I know - some graphics cards are pretty noisy and have a lot of interference with soundcards and the such. I know its not my cables to my speakers, as those are shielded XLR - its definately being sent with the audio signal. I think the only solution would be to get an external soundcard, something like that.
Uneducated guesses... But I don't get the noise on my second PC, which uses onboard graphics and sound. As I say, I'm pretty sure its an attribute of supercharged graphics cards somehow getting electrical noise into your audio.

Using headphones or mic on the case front panel plug is usually the cause for issues like this. Just don't do it! ---- |

if your using win7 they offered a sound driver upgrade that caused that problem for me on a hp hardware setup. i just rolled back the driver and the problem went away.
it mostly happened when i was using win amp and eve at the same time.
