Most people won't pay because they know insurance pretty much covers their losses. Or they give you that honour/pride speech. So, when things get slow, I have alternate ways of making money. Mine in 0.0 and you can make a lot of isk in little time. Kill some rats, build/sell on the market. Sure that stuff isn't as fun as blowing people up, but I gotta make money somehow, right? The point is, don't rely on people paying you. Always have a back-up plan. ---------------------------------- I <3 mining. |

Thats right darth that is the future of pirating, empire wars allow u to make better isk and i think u will have already noticed that the older pirates are working on or have worked on their security status. You are also right the bounty hunting side also needs addressing as does the bounty system which run hand in hand, there should be some automatic bounty that works together with ships detroyed or some similar system. This would make bounty hunting profitable and maybe would do something about wasted of space who put huge bountys on themselves so they sit at the top of a board rather than work for it! Oh one more thing Darth, the say the future of pirating is in empire........your right........but isnt that what celestial have done for months |

Insurance is definetly the gh3y. they should get rid of it, and the highway system, and insta jumps too.

Pirating is tough, but I do make a modest living pirating. I've had to supplement my income with safespot ship theft, but I agree 100% with waywatcher, having special skills that would allow us to salvage the wreckage from a ship would make things a lot more fun, interesting, and profitable. Or at least make the modules more survivable. As it is now the PvE'ers always make a lot more money with much less risk, which seems a little bit backwards.

I say it¦s a bad strategy to beg CCP for making pirating easier - better beg to get it ultrahard so only the best survive and all the wannabes go back mining the minerals we "consume"

destroyed ships being refinable, can be mightily explotable. Insure ship, destroy ship, refine wreckage, get insurance. Even if the insurance payout + wreckage profit < ship cost + platinum insurance we will still see an ISK sink less in this game. And we DEFINITELY do NO want to see such a thing.

the thing is that there is to many n00bs thinking that they are pirates and call themselves pirates.
those are the ones that asks why we kill them and those that have miner2's fitted when we kill them.
when we kill the ones we know is real pirates, the ones with the skills and the right attitude for it we tend to get good loot from them everytime. so i dont see a problem with "pirates" making enough money. i do see alot of whining wannabe pirates though.
heres a hint, if you dont want to do the job properly then dont whine about it. everything takes effort so put some effort in if you wanna be a pirate.
for example look at the teddy's, a hard working pirate corp and doing it well i might add.
the whining pirate miners is what i call huggybears, carebears who has failed as pirates also like.

You just helped prove my point. If you have tons of tech 2, thats some expensive stuff if you had to buy it. In other words it's an asset.
That cap recharger 2 you have from ganking a miner just made you 8M isk, even if you don't sell it, it's still a +8M drop. If he also had a 27% expander, you just made an additional 25M, even if you don't sell it. Named guns? you just most likely made millions, even if you use them you have to factor in what they would have cost you to purchase. Thats income imo.
Pirating isn't all that hard really, I know tons of people who make a hell of a lot of isk doing it. Anyone who has played more than a few weeks can probably say the same, and frankly, people do some stupid stuff out there that gets them ganked. (hello, don't accept the gang invite from the -9.9 sec pirate in low sec space.) A few of my friends tell me some of the things people have done, and frankly, some of them have almost deserved to be podded for being so stupid.
I'm not condoning griefing mind you (and all pirating is griefing imo, it's why I don't do it), but in a game where PvP IS the end game, you need to use some basic common sense when traveling through areas where you can be ganked easily.
So basically, pirates don't need any help income wise. Bounty hunters though need some lovin, and need it badly.
