Edited by: Tiwaz on 15/09/2004 08:54:36 i think the pirat buiness must be doing ok.
But theres still ever more players who chose this path, so the classic gank systems maybe abit crowed. But if i where a pirat i would chose different 0.4-0.1 systems for each op. And setup shop. Gank the BS's and haulers that come by. Even is u are 5-6 ppl sharing the loot, there still should be a good profit.
However i do think that less modules should be destroyed, when blowing up a ship. A normal Bs setup should easely drop 10mills in loot, if less where destroyed.
Waywatcher: Isent it somehow good to know, that theres ppl who challenge the pirats?. Calling us pirats is a very old claim. But its is true however, that we gank a fair number in empire space (only pirats or ppl who have a bad standing to us).

Edited by: Arcticblue2 on 15/09/2004 09:59:03 And miners are getting named Carebears!!!!!!
First of all, my impression here is that pirates that now complain about this must be pirates that sits all day at the gates ganking people. Pirates that is out in the fields hunting people seems to be quite happy with how the game works for now (apart from missile nerfing and stuff).
Nothing tells me that piracy should be easy... it should be difficult and only the elite should be able to do just so. Infact I think that gates in 0.0 should be piratefree so more miners and people could travel around to 0.0 and makes more people to hunt BUT Noooo we can't have that going on, 0.0 space littered with noobs and carebears what a dreadful tought.
One of the reasons I don't travel 0.0 is because I am not stupid, I don't want to loose my ship just as I enter 0.0 space. I have lost one ship to pirates and that was one that was out hunting me in the belt and quite honest I respect that... made the mining fun and exiting... loosing my ship at the gate would NOT make my mining fun or exiting.
Then you have these who complain about instant jump bookmarks... get out in the fields hunt somebody instead of sitting at the gate waiting for the prey to come.
In my view a real pirate is one out hunting me down in the belts and even me out to the gates or stations. One who try to get me to pay ransom...
I can agree with that blown up ships should give more yes, but not to remove bookmarks from stations and gates or removing insurance.
How many do you think would travel down to 0.0 if they could not insure their ship ? or did not get back what it cost to get a new one ?. Very few I would think, and most ship going there would be frigates then if any.

personally i think that we we dont need to limit the peoples chances to get out to 0.0 by removing insta bookmarks and such. instead there need to be a increase in routes out to 0.0 so more people can come out and mine and hunt there with a bit less risk of getting ganked at a single chokepoint with next entry 42 jumps to the right. this way everyone would make more out of it. the pirates would get to work a bit more but there would also be more prey for them to hunt. the miners and hunters would get access to better ore and bigger npc's to hunt and get some pvp also.
one thing for bounty hunting would be to give a player a sec boost depending on negative sec status that the pirat has, the lower sec rated pirat he kills the bigger the sec increase.

Just have to add Olyyy knows what hes doing But back to topic,Yes if you blow up say a raven that has 7 mill trit used to make it ect a few cans of mins laft over after its blown up is not a bad idear, there are wrecks out there of large ships used as spawns why there can not be "leftovers" from a massive ship like a Battleship?

I think miner IIs should require a big stack of tech2 comps. I'd bet if miner IIs cost the same as cap recharger IIs, I'd get a lot more mining apocs to cough up some cash.
Nerfing insurance would probably be the best solution, but I suspect hell will freeze over before I see that.

I like the idea of creating more access points to 0.0 space. It would give alliances more options to control their space. Would make for a lot more, multi-front battles. Would bring fuzzybears into the area for alliances to gank on sight.
I don't agree that 0.0 gates should be safe. 0.0 is 0.0 - a lawless territory. If you want the gates to be safe, get a couple of MWD and a tonn of warp core stabs. Then no one can catch you. If they do though, warp out and you're ok.

I agree that there should be more entry points to 0.0
Few people are prepared to go through the gate to be insta ganked by some battleships waiting at the other side.
Wheres the challenge in that?
If more people could gain access without the "shooting fish in a barrel" approach of the gate campers then more people could enjoy mining / npc rat hunting and pirates could enjoy doing what they do best - pirating. A win-win situation.
Gate camping is like me doing level 1 missions in my battleship.

Agreed. There are too many cons/rewards when compared to mining or missions.

Please fill me in on why nerfing insurance would be the best solution, would you travel into 0.0 with a brand new battleship without coverage of your insurance ? In anyway a insurance won't cover what you loose if you got named stuff onboard, infact it won't cover your loss in equipment at all. It pay's for the ship and that is about it....
I don't think doing gates riskfree is the entire best solution, ofcourse getting more accesspoints into 0.0 would be best and in that way ... let more people into 0.0 and gives Pirates more to do.

taking away insurance is a silly idea.
insurance is useful mostly for those new to the game. they work hard to get that new shiney piece of validation and insurance helps to protect their investment. if you take away insurance from these people, guess what? they still won't be able to pay you the amount of ransom you want as they can't afford it.
and as for the seasoned player...if they are seasoned enough the mods they have on their ships are very expensive, as are the implants they have plugged in...if this isn't enough to force them to pay your ransom then a bit more for what they would lose on the ship isn't going to do jack.
