Fix it, or your going to be losing a lot of pilots come the new next gen space mmos. I am sick an tired of losing cyno alts and random ships due to the delays in docking and gate warping. If I have to see "You will be cleared for gate travel in X minutes in 0.0" one more time im going to come show you guys how to properly code netcode.
Its obvious you know this is a problem, or you wouldn't have the options to petition for lost ships. Forget the ships, how about lost time?

Can i get something more original? I mean the whole purpose of your character is played out and been used 10 years ago in WoW. Keep it there where it started.
Back on topic, this lag is truly amateurish at best. When I see my pod explode inside the station docked there is a problem.

You seem to be laboring under the illusion that lag is something that CCP can just push a button and fix.

No not at all. But considering EVE has been out for 5+ years now, you would think that with improvements in technology and bandwidth we could get a more smooth game play.
And I am not the only one who experiences this lag. I know of many people, where gates take ages to jump.. docks say docking accepted and still don't dock you. I can accept the jita lag or even more populated areas of eve. But when local barely scratches 10 and docking takes 5 minutes, this is a broken game mechanic that needs to be fixed. Timing is crucial to living in 0.0. The way it stands now, people who are near the server have a HUGE advantage over the ones who are not.

Now its ... well i have this friend who lives in XX that doesn't get lag. So you never answered my question and came back with a quirky comment about and outdated system. Funny ... no not really.
My computer can run 5 accounts without breaking a sweat. I don't run on laptops and old pc's like half the population does. I can actual play the new games coming out *gasp* on max settings. CCP knows this lag exists that is why I have received a few ships back in the years playing that truly got shafted by the code they call net.
Its like this, when you play FPS games do you join something that pings 500-1000? I have no choice, ping times to the CCP master server are not even visable.
What CCP needs to do is offer a premium account that gives a nice fat pipe dedicated to the purchasers. I for one would pay upwards to $20-$30 a month to gain a low ping and get that advantage.

well you tried using the "but you live in the uk" excuse for the lag so I blew it out the water by telling you someone who lives on the other side of the planet also gets next to no lag.
I then said I used to lag (and it was terrible) untill I got a new systen that could handle the game (on max settings I might add).
I can honestly tell you living in the UK doesnt help at all with lag if your equipment is not up to the task.

I get that sometimes, but not often. I sympathize, but technology hasn't advanced to the point where we can always count on a smooth game when it comes to MMORPGs. When I play WoW, I make a point to connect to the closest datacenter and even then, I'll still get lag. WoW servers are far more restricted in population and its servers are spread out. I imagine it's an even bigger problem with Eve, since it's all one connected universe.

Your computer only plays a part in it. Your ISP, CCP's ISP, and the quality of service that other ISPs provide that service a part of the route that signals travel to all play a role. You're not connected directly to CCP's servers, so whatever needs to be sent goes on a long route through quite a few servers that route it further along the line. If there's interference at any part, that'll affect your performance and it's not always in a place where CCP or you can affect it (through your own actions or your ISP's).
Short of moving to CCPland and connecting directly to their servers, there's sometimes not much you can do to improve it. CCP is doing their part in making the software and their hardware run better. Some fixes work, some don't. Some seem to work fine in their testing servers, but when carried out to the larger environment that's TQ, messes things up more. There's no magic button, no single destination to throw money and time at that will fix it once and for all.

I don't live anywhere near Iceland and I don't have much lag. Check your own end before blaming it on someone else. My sig was fail, but now it isn't.

Something is probably wrong with your connection then. Or, it could be the tower your connection goes through. They get buggy sometimes, and there is nothing you can do about that. Or, you could have a virus bug that screws with your internet connection as well- I had one of those awhile back. My sig was fail, but now it isn't.

I'll take it one better.
I live in Australia, and I haven't gotten anything like you've mentioned. I get the standard 300-500+ ping, but that's just normal for the distance. --------------------------------------------

The only time I see any lag while playing EVE is when there are other people using the internet connection in the house (friends, relatives). They are normally doing things like watching movies and we only have a 1Mb\s (did I write that correctly?) line.
I did a trace route to the server and it takes 14 hops over 8,848 miles (~14,239km) to get there. I live in this area, only has about 2.5m pop, but it is the largest urban center in the state, maybe that has something to do with it. |

You forget that EVE was created with minimum traffic needed considering most people were still using 56k in 2003 when it first came out. I hardly see it spike above 14KB/s even in busy systems (Jita).
Run a traceroute with and without the game running and see if there's any noticeable changes.

Yawn, original? The X/10 thing is very original right? That extra 20k of players are just more accounts from the super corp moon farmers of 2009, don't you know the yield went up so that they can afford more alt accounts?
I never said I was quitting either, im just addressing a problem that has been bugging me for years. And I do not run a crappy connection and pinged to china around 300. So yeah, you guys holding on to assets keep telling yourself its ok. When its you and your 50 alt accounts left you can pretend to have fake wars with them.

I can ping random remote locations and get fantastic results too. Doesn't mean something isn't wrong with your connection to CCP's servers.

Yes, because you can do that by yourself a lot better then a team of educated developers. If someone explained it to you I doubt you would even understand the problems they face in dealing with lag issues, so don't pretend you know anything.
Now shut up, go back to your moms basement and show a little respect for the people working their asses off on this game. And don't even dare give me that "I pay so I have rights" bull****.
