In games such as wow u can get mods that dont change the gameplay or how the game works...just changes teh hud or helps with quests or helps healing etc. I would like to know if such kinda mods for eve exist and if they are allowed. I am not talking about the types that change the game itself (i.o.w. cheating), but rather eg a mod that makes targetting enemy ships easier etc. if not I will understand.

CTRL-left click and good overview settings seems to work for me.
But I'd kill for a mod to change the horrible font --- Sol: A microwarp drive? In a battleship? Are you insane? They arenĘt built for this! Clear Skies - The Movie |

Sounds like macros to me, which are bannable offences.

lol...not macros. Maybe a mod that keeps up with your training and lets say u put in a capship then the mod sees what needs to be trained and then lets you know in a list and then what should follow what. lol. Just want to know if stuff like that is not allowed b4 I start looking for simple mods. If it is then I will just go without.

For that, there is EveMon (google it). It uses a special login called an "API" login to monitor your account from a program that runs *outside* Eve. It will suggest the best order of training, to a point, and the best setup for your attributes for that training.
There is also Eve Fitting Tool (EFT - again, google it), which will let you fiddle with ship setups outside the Eve client. You can use the API login to import your character's current skill set and see what ship setups look like they'll work for you.

I don't think it's so much "not allowed" as "not possible within the game architecture".

I'd hate it, if EVE would be a "you suck if you don't have the latest UI mods" thing like wow.
Yes, the UI needs (and is getting) improvements, but player mods are not the way to go imho.

There are no UI modifications available for EVE that I am aware of. Using any such thing would be a violation of the EULA and a bannable offence. I would suggest not trying.

You do know that listening to people who say asinine things like that is unwise, yes?

Blizzard have managed to tap a huge pool of player talent by opening up their interface. Many of the curent i/f options were originally implemented by players as addons and have been incorporated into the official client. There's no reason why CCP couldn't benefit in the same way, if their architecture allowed. Addons are always optional. Some of them are so useful for certain jobs that you gimp yourself if you don't use 'em; in a perfect world, those would be instantly adopted into the official UI, or legislated out of existence.

EVEmon for tracking and planning skill training, created by a goon, has been improved and is maintained by a bunch of great volunteers
EVE MLcalc allows you to plan blueprint research and easily calculate the cost of production runs. Very little documentation, but once you play around with it you can easily determine the optimal Material Research level for blueprints.
Out of EVE is a browser tool for tracking what your characters are doing, their assets, market orders, wallets, jobs, etc. It's great for determining how ships in remote stations are fit, and let's you see assets inside station and cargo containers. These particular features are not available in game.
As mentioned above, mods or other changes to the user interface are not permitted by the EULA.
