Hello fellow pilotes
I have a question about salvage tackle, do they increase the amount of salvage or just the time it takes to salvage a vreck? or how do they work?
Best regards Mr.Pentex

Each salvager have a % of success. You can train this up to a point. And after that point (and before) you can put salvage tackle's on to improve your chanche of succsess. So in a way i decreases the time to salvage sinche you have a higher chanse to salvage/cycle.

Thanx for the answers! Then i dont realy see the need for salvage tackles, because i dont mind if it takes couple of minutes more/wreck or not. Thanx again

They do both.
They (indirectly) increase the amount of salvage that you get, because just like energy is mass, time is money and in the timed saved while salvaging you can be creating new salvage.

A couple of minutes per wreck really adds up if you have a lot of wrecks. In my opinion, salvage tackles are absolutely essential on a dedicated salvaging ship. I don't bother with them on a Marauder, however, because I only salvage as long as I am killing stuff - I don't bother getting every single wreck. For those missions where it's in my interest to get every wreck, such as anti-Empire faction missions, I come back with a salvage destroyer (Catalyst) or BC (Hurricane or Harbinger) fitted with salvage tackle rigs. It really speeds everything up. As someone else observed, time is money.
...this doesn't even seem to be a regular case of rats fleeing the sinking ship. Seems more like the rats are on fire, the ship is on fire, and the sea is full of drunk Russians. - Jacob Etienne |

I don't know if I'd fit them when salvaging the level 1-3 missions, but the number of ships (and thus wrecks) in most level 4 missions can be pretty huge. I just looked up one of the level 4 versions of The Blockade, it has 49 ships at minimum in it, with more possible. I wouldn't want to think about trying to salvage that field with only a 20% chance per salvager. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |
