Yes, this is a alt-post.
I am preparing to apply for W-Space life and currently I am working on getting my char into the Moros (18D to board, shoot, use local rep and siege; 60D to fly it properly). The question is should I pause for 26D to get into a HIC instead (HIC IV)?
WH FCs, what are your preferences for this? Thanks in advance. |

If the character in question is your only main char, then yes, you should be able to fly a HIC long before you even think about flying a dreadnought. Winner of elections banned, runner-up demoted by rest of the body, the council controlled by the losers. CSM 7 is illegitimate, CCP should remember when dealing with them. Remember what players voted for. |

The moros is a very situational ship. The Hic, not so much. Train up for a hic. |

Yes, it is. POS take-down, cap escalation (IF I get into C5/C6)..
Ok, HIC takes priority! Thank you for your replies!
At this point it makes no difference for me which HIC to choose (only Prop Jamming, Grav Physics and HICs to learn), proficient with all weapon systems, shield/armor tanking... Just out of curiosity, what is the preferred hull for each tanking doctrine?

The HIC will also make your life a lot easier when you want to collapse wormholes. Grinding is not everything, get your PvP skills going. |

Typically most favoured HICs are Devoters for armor and Onyx for Shield due to their excellent resist profiles. You can get a nice fast Broadsword config with high resists but you don't see them very often in w-space. Phobos I'm clueless on. |

Phobos is good for mobile small gangs because it can have good damage so you have a bubble and yet don't 'waste' a player on only that. It's by far the worst HIC for wormhole camping because of its terrible tank. Winner of elections banned, runner-up demoted by rest of the body, the council controlled by the losers. CSM 7 is illegitimate, CCP should remember when dealing with them. Remember what players voted for. |

depends on corp alliance really. we got hic pilots comming out of our asses and we only use 1 or 2 in fleets. you can never have too many dreadnaughts, and theyre great to make massive isk in high class wh
if you join/are in a big corp/alliance, id go for dread. or just ask the ppl you play with |

dread > HIC every time. any existing WH corp will already have a lot of people that can fly HICs. |

I've seen them on ganks, but not much beyond that. |

I would get HIC first, less for using in PvP, and more for collapsing WH's without risking the ship. Remember that the HIC bubble reduces your ships mass, and you can have multiple bubbles active at once.
Oh, and 100MN AB's add 50mil mass to your HIC... in most cases tripling the mass.

What do you like to fly?
If dreads are your dream, then go for that. There are plenty WH corps that have good use for them both plexing and for pvp. Everybody and their mothers cat can fly a HIC.
That said, if you spend most of your time in lower class WHs, a HIC is of much more use.
I like pilots that like what they fly and try and get good at that. Not that HICs is the first thing to specialize in maybe :) |

But I have reached a point, a crossroad if you wish, where I need to decide where to go next. And since I have set my mind on moving (back to) to a WH, I might as well go for something that will benefit my future corp the most. I have experience with dictors, but never flown a HIC. I have never flown a cap (apart from Orca/Rorq) and I am intrigued by the concept.
So there you have it |

Well, remember that you really want T2 bubbles. (which adds another 30d)
Why should an FC take a T1 bubble HIC pilot when he can take T2s. There are lots of it. |

Larger entities end up in stalemates. (dreads / caps + support on each side, no pew) Smaller entities hide or force collapse due to the silly amount of caps the other side want to field. What we're left with is ganks and baits followed by.. ganks. Only decent fights I've had recently have been counter-ganks, down-shipping, and some stuff out of WH space. i dont really see how one thing is related to the other. in fleets you just never use more then 1 or 2 HIC's, and with the much lower pre-req's many more people can fly them. in high class you also dont use them for collapsing, or rarely do. i dont think we ever had trouble fielding HIC's. dreads can be short at certain times though. the isk and time investment are just much higher |

Comment was more aimed at the fact having caps is a requirement for WH space, than anything to do with HICs. There are far more corps who can't field HICs, than ones who can / do field dreads. It would be wrong to assume that if you fall into the latter category, all others are the same, or want to be the same. Welcome to EVE online, here's your rubix cube, go F*** yourself GÖÑ |

id say HIC, dreads so very situational and you rarely bring them outside of your home wormhole because the logistics of moving them through WH's is prohibiting.
HIC's are almost always useful. Due to mass limits the dreads will be reserved for those with the very best skills to fly them, that likely wont be you if your just training them. Dreads have ridiculous income/hour potential though so thats enough to motivate most people to train them early in wormholes. |

Honestly I'd go
Tech3 cruiser -> Salvager -> HIC -> logi -> Carrier -> Dread
Dreads are only used in C5-6 with webber support and the occassion POS siege of C5-6s. Unless you expect to apply to a corp with a C5-6 which actively uses Dreads to run their sites. Tech3 cruisers are the min requirement for a lot of corps to run sites. Having salvage 5 and being able to fly a noctis is also a huge plus. (Not because most of the corp can't salvage, but it often frees up a pilot for more dps, and it's nice to have an FNG to do the boring work.) WH corps like HIC pilots not because no one can fly a HIC, but as most people don't fly them. FC are constantly having to hold up the entire fleet while they find someone with both the skills and a properly fit HIC.
PS- A properly fit fleet HIC has a cloak, 2 bubbles, 2 focus scripts, is cap stable while running a bubble and focused warp disruption, and has as much tank as possible. |
