Dear Patton,
You are correct, I did delete a couple of comments. That was accidental on my part and I do apologize. If you would like to repost them, you are welcome to do so.
As for the ships we lose -- and no one loses more ships than I -- there is no denying they will be many. But honestly, I doubt a whole year of my losses will equal the Armageddon battleship that Roofus lost to us at the Nausschie gate a couple of weeks ago. You can read about it on the blog.

Edited by: Lady Spank on 06/06/2009 22:00:32 Gawd Sharuveil rules, I was cruising in there and got ANOTHER Incursus 1v1. Except I failed hard and didn't turn the scram on. MOFO warped out in low structure... found his wreck on the Nausschie gate though so at least I got the phat lewtz.
Yes I'm a noob STFU
EDIT: hoho the killmail is even better, he took damage from me, the rat he was fighting AND gate sentries. Guess out he engaged me 1st.
Yes I know this isn't impressive, its just funny. *Lady Spank goes back to drinking cider in low sec* |

Originally by: King Rothgar Jokes aside, they are a decent bunch. They suck badly at eve but play for the right reason (to have fun) so they don't take it too seriously. It's nice having some truly level headed targets around that fully realize that at the end of the day, it's just internet spaceships so no sense making an *ss of yourself. I enjoy killing them and though they litter with secure cans, I like having them around.
Haha, thanks King. And yes, I can't speak for everyone else but I am a noob when it comes to PVP, so this is my way of having some fun and easing my way into it. Also, the FoS crew is fun to hang out with.
And yeah, at the end of the day, it's just a game. So fly safe, or happy hunting, or whatever. I'll probably lose more than a few ships to you guys, but I'm looking forward to it. ;) |

Then perhaps you would be so kind as to remove the can saying as much in decon? Seems to me that someone sprouting those words should heed them.

Sharuveil is where I'd rat in my Hound back when stealth bombers were actually good against everything. This was just before and after they added the third launcher to the non-Manticore bombers.
Picked up a couple of LG Snakes there and never encountered anyone else who stuck around. You get pirate haven Decon on one side, and High sec on the other, and both are separated by like a 120 AU from the belts |

god, its ica all over again
this is an open notice to anyone in the friends of sharuveil device thing; drop by #hardlyworking on irc.coldfront.net and you can talk to me about eve or whatever, i've been playing for ~3.5 years and have close to a 98% kb efficiency ratio including... "dozens" of capital kills
and i'm perfectly willing to share my experience with you so you don't have to learn pvp all haphazardly from someone who doesn't know what they're talking about, or from trial and error with frigates and lowsec rules of engagement. just as a public service. you shouldn't feel obligated to be a part of some half-assed shortbus antipirate movement just because you don't have any friends in eve
to delilah wild: no offense intended, but newbies who beat their chests as much as you do are usually compensating for something irl -+- let's break out the shotguns, we're going to town

Too bad some of you just take that so seriously. It was a pleasure for me to start pvp here and as King said, the point of that was having fun. After that, sure a new char can't stand a chance in front of overskill/stuff people, but heh, sometimes you get it. Remember the harbi you lost from me in Sharuveil Patton ? I was even noober than now ! Now Sharuveil is far away from me...

Aristotle, the old earth philosopher, once said that men were not adults until they reached the age of 40. Most of these pirate-authored posts demonstrate his insight. I suspect many of the women of EVE, as well as in these boyz real lives, would agree. Its also quite amusing to see pirates moonlighting as Freudian psychiatrists.
O/ Olaster. Pay us a visit when you are back in town. ';-)
There is, however, a method to their adolescent madness. They focus on ship kills as a means of asserting an 'objective standard' for their prowess. In my case, it is certainly true that I lose more ships than I kill. As a noob fighting pirates many years my age, in ships of superior quality, and with more experience in combat, I expect that. This is not true for many of the Friends, but it is true for me.
Yet the killboards only feature a limited set of statistics, and fail to relate these numbers to the political goals pursued by the Friends. For example, I've lost many frigates to Whispi, but have participated in the destruction of her ships several times over at a cost of hundreds of millions more to her than I. I lost two small ships in Sharuveil last night, but the one pirate I did kill lost more isk than the losses of our 3 person squad.
What I am illustrating here is a fundamental point of asymmetric struggle. You don't have to win toe-to-toe in a particular skirmish or battle. Rather you slowly whittle down the adversaries material base and fighting morale. While you do so, you gain in skill, strength and experience. Moreover, the very act of resistance makes a political statement about one's values and commitments. In our case it is to the greater well-being of the people of EVE, as expressed through our struggle against the multiple forms of victimization associated with piracy. It is these political values, expressed in words and actions, that are the ultimate source of power in our struggle. For it is these values that will bring together a larger community to defend ourselves and our neighbours.
