Hi guys. I need a little bit of advice. Am I better off trying to get my new Nightmare cap stable with smaller shield boosters, flux coils and ccc rigs OR use injectors and free up the lows for more damage mods and rig slots for damage rigs?
I have checked a number of different loadouts on Battleclinic but could now use some in game experienced help.
Thanks in advance. |

I would not press for cap stability. If you are still learning the ropes then injector is good idea altho you can do also fine (if you know what you are doing) with approx 3-4 minutes of capacitor life in level 4 missions. |

you dont need permanent cap stability
3-4 minz of cap is good enough like above poster said.
you probably never need to tank that long to run booster perma for more than that.

You can replace some faction gear with t2 if you want. I wouldn't use t2 Tachs though, they are REALLY cap hungry (my EFT setups with 4 t2 guns and 4 resists go dry in 5-7 minutes).
Essential NM equipment is: At least 3 heat sinks At least 1 tracking enhancer Heavy cap booster XLSB. Don't need Pith X...I run with CN one and it works just fine.
Whole point of NM is not to be permatanked. Your gank is your tank. With implants the above setup does 1000DPS at 41km optimal. So you let your hardeners run and only turn on the XLSB when your shields finally get down to 20% or so. Odds are...by that time everything is dead anyway.

You get very little out of a 4th heatsink, but allot of ECCM from a radar backup array II

Edited by: Kassa Daito on 05/06/2009 21:44:42 The NM isn't worth it's price as a permatanker. Use a med or large cap booster in your mids so you can permarun your hardeners & Multifrequency ammo and run your XL shield booster for a few cycles at a time without the cap booster and for about 5 mins with it and you'll be good. all of the above can be done with only 1 cap booster as your cap recharge modules but a CCC is a good enough filler if you can't fit something more useful in your lows (I like mixing DPS and tank rigs myself). The Nightmare is one of about 3 ships in EVE that can really DPS tank L4s (not kite them, just kill everything bigger than a cruiser before it can pop you while you slowboat yourself to the next gate and have the drones take out the frigates). |

the nightmare just doesn't permatank.
although for a pve fit anything over 5 mins of cap stability is 90% of the time stable. the other 10% of the time you are shooting something with lots and lots of hp, and running your tank.

Based on my expericence, Nightmare doesn't need to be prema tanked at all. In fact, over 80% of the missions don't even need to have my shield booster activated at all. You can call it dps tanking, since nightmare kill stuff so fast. Standard 2-3 minutes active tanking time is more than enough. I don't use xl shield booster though. I use gist b type large shield booster on it. Never had any issue tanking in any mission. Over tanking only slows you down.
