Why are you helping to trend a market down? If profit is going down instead of up you are in the wrong market in the first place. IGNE obeythekitten is eve related content. Stop being so antagonistic. |

Oh this is priceless
Traders annoy many a mission runners/producers by their incessant 0.01 isk undercuts that you wonder sometimes if there's actually an organic mass pushing the keystrokes. So, answer? Burn the market by lowering the average. Why do I care as long as my own profit margin's healthy. That'll teach the station hugging isk sucking vampires not to mess with folks who actually produces stuff.
That said, it's a vampire's world out there.

The thing is, producers are limited by the value they paid for their minerals/components/whatever. As a trader, I'm perfectly content to go right down to build cost (and somewhat below, since my reprocessing skills suck) as long as I am selling for more than I bought it for.

Key phrases : lower average, burn market, my own profit margin's healthy.
One of the biggest strength being a trader is that you can go in/out of any particular market in a blink. Generally, producers need to re-tool and re-align making their movement awkward - so they're in the market at least the medium-long term.
Now, the question is, why are you perfectly happy to go right down to the build cost when you can invest that amount in something else that's more profitable?

I mined it myself so I get 100% gross profit on it, so i can kill the price to my level and send you trading elsewhere.
And for our trader question of the day:
100% profit on next to no actual gain equals what?
In other news, you can make a lot more money by moving prices large distances than you can by playing the stupid 0.01 isk game.
Well they pay me to mine those 425mm railguns I like to sell. |

Clearly the OP hasn't figured out that the best way to make isk is to load high value cargo into a cargo expanded and lightly tanked industrial and haul through as many choke points as possible into 0.0 space. There are riches beyond belief there. |

you fail. actually if you cut the price high or low enough it will sell or get purchased FASTER. bc people will either find it profitable to haul, or if you change the price enough people like YOU will rage quit and stop competing. the viewpoint you have is very socialistic (trying to price fix an item, very stupid).
you seriously need to grow a pair. it isn't called market pvp for no reason.

roflmao at market lemmings
I undercut to ridiculous prices, (2-3 units) they undercut me for 0.01 their 100+ unit orders, then I bought them all cheap and resell. Finally I check the moron name (transactions screen) and send some laugh-mail
The best part is I got total control over them, as no matter which price I set they will do 0.01 lower. |

ITT: markets become more efficient, and hustlers traders QQ about it.
------------------------------ In EVE, when someone undercuts you, they're a lemming.
When you undercut someone else, it's skill/effort/manipulation.

I have never understood this. Especially with high volume stuff, that you know the market will blow through my 3 unit order in seconds.

It's simple, if you want to sell something fast, you undercut by a lot rather than by 0.01 isk. That way either the serious traders don't undercut you and wait for your product to disappear so they can get back to their normal profit margins, or they buy you out, which is exactly what you want.
If it ****es some people off in the process, all the better, that's PvP for you.
When a mission runner flies to a trade hub with their loot to sell it, sitting there and playing the 0.01 isk game for days until their items just happen to be on top while someone is buying is not what they're there for. They want to put up their sell orders and go back to missioning, confident that they'll sell in a reasonable timeframe.

Pretty much this. They are not dealing in volume. They are looking for a quick turnover in additional isk. If somebody loots something, undercuts a trader, is the trader really going to move their orders to undercut? No, they will buy out.
This is a moot thread. |
