what is the point in eve if everyone want to kill you no matter where you are? even if you're in high sec people try to suicide you... what is the POINT! there is more to the game than podding people and killing expensive ships for their modules... so all everyone knows is killing? WTF! dont se the point of paying for a game if someone is always out to kill you when you want to do more in the game... |

Well there are only two possible reasons for making this post:
(1) You are mad cause someone killed you.
(2) You are trolling to get Eve Fanboys mad.
Either way when you signed up you know that Eve is a dangerous place. Space is not your mothers womb, you will get killed frequintly and quickly until you get the hang of things. If most new people paid attention to the forums they would learn alot of things not to do and not have to get pised at the game when they did somthing stupid. |

Edited by: Destination SkillQueue on 07/06/2009 20:55:07 Well in the game you are competing with other people and one way to assure you win is to kill the competition. So it is not surprising, that using force is very common in EVE. There are also many different ways to avoid getting killed. If you really want to avoid combat and take the necessary precautions, it is almost impossible to kill you.
In all honesty only the careless, the stupid and people with big mouths get killed in highsec. Random killings don't happen because of the various costs involved. If you ignore stupidity, there are only really two ways to get killed there. The first way is to make someone angry enough, so killing you is worth the costs. The second is to make yourself so lucrative target, that killing you more then covers the costs of killing you. So don't be a moron and don't make yourself a flying loot pinata and you shouldn't have any problems.

The point is to : * present nothing of value in highsec so it will be unlikely anybody wants to kill you there for the stuff you would drop * don't annoy people (intentionally OR unintentionally) - learn to apologize when in doubt - so that nobody wants to kill you no matter where you are * if somebody DOES want to kill you - evade them so they can't kill you * or just kill them first

Seriously though, i'm sure you had a bad experience but the game would lose its edge a bit if all we could do is fire foam mallets at each other. |

To crush your enemies, to see them podded at your feet -- to take their ships and loot and hear the lamentation of their carebears. That is best.

Firstly I would say don't take it personally, take a step back and remind yourself IT IS NOT REAL LIFE. Then carry on do what makes you feel good. Go for revenge, hire someone to exact your revenge or just carry on making billions of ISK to the point where you don't care if some pesky pirate blows up your ship for the nth time that week. If it's still not working then go play WoW with a nice simple grind system and no worries about PvP. |

Just think of the folks trying to kill you as the "difficulty level" of doing things in EvE.
The more lucrative the activity...the higher the difficulty level. Eventually, you get skilled enough with the game mechanics that you can avoid dying or losing equipment in a lot of cases.
The truth is that EvE would end up being rather dull if nobody could kill you.

The point, as in any game, is to have fun.

When i 1st joined i kept hearing eve referred to as 'The Universe Of Grief' and i didnt really understand why.
I know now.
I found a 0.0 system, Did a radar site, Dodging the locals and the rats i finnaly got the cans open and got my loot about 150M worth of it. not bad for 1 little exploration site.
4 jumps back to lowsec, in a pair of battlecruisers....i made it out! docked up...
I cant get into hi sec cuz im too damn cool for that so my alt comes in a kestrel to take the loot out for me, 4 jumps from HI SEC to my LowSec hidey hole. all clear nothing to worry about.
I get my loot and make it to the last system, about to get into hisec and cash in my OMG WHATS THAT
SmartBombs
Kestrel gone, pod gone, im awake far far away all my loot gone.
the universe of grief.
i love it!

I think the point is that you can kill them back, pay them to go away or deal with them in some other creative manner.
Imagine EVe is a playground and these guys are poking you all the time. What they want is a reaction because they want to play with you, or hope you get friends together so you can have one team against another for drama at the bouncy castle. Sure it's a team vs another team kind of playstyle but that is what they want, that is why they logged into EVE and not a solo game.
They like you and want to play in one way or another. |

What's the point of life anyway? you'll get killed neither by men or god/nature (sorry if I offended anyone). |

I don't think it's the name. I think he/she ****ed off the wrong person / corp / alliance, and now is being hunted and they won't give up.
Tough. Start over, and next time don't steal ore, pirate, steal from the corp, scam, or whatever it is you did that ****ed people off. |
