The description says as follow: "Targets any hostile ship within range on activation. Grants a +3 bonus to ship's max targets when online".
However, it never seems to work. It never targets anything for me. Ships come in range, target me and are blinking red, and this module sits there on repeat and doesn't try to lock anything. How the hell is this supposed to work exactly?
I actually submited 2 bug reports for this and the BH's said they couldn't reproduce the issue.
Can someone else test it and tell me how it's supposed to work?

Don't buy them, furthermore, go into your settings and set your personal auto-target to 0.

you fit them and leave them offline and then you can target many more things, although needs multitasking to lock that many. it can be useful in a few situations. never actually tried using one myself.

Already done, first thing I tried.

So basically, the main use of the module is not working, but the bonus is nice in some situation. is that pretty much it?
Why not just make it something like "Multitasking Targeting array" and only give the target bonus instead of this crap? Or better, make it a Rig! |

It's worked for me before, but only on targets that have already fired on my ship.

Edited by: Agent Known on 09/06/2009 06:18:06 FYI, they have to be online for the target bonus. It does work great when doing missions...save me the time having to click every time I instapop a frig or something.
Edit: Also, it "attempts" to auto-target within range once every cycle, so it doesn't always work. |

If you set your game to not autotarget anything back...and you then break your hands...the autotargeting system lets you target stuff. |

When I tried them - they were a disaster. They targeted evil gas clouds, malignant structures - my corpmate who'd accidentally targeted me - anything and everything but the ships I wanted targeted. When it did target a ship - it might well be some ship that was out of range of my weapons - while one closer to me was blasting away.
In short - if you use this module - you are turning your targeting over to the computer ... which is as dumb as a rock.
Those, F.O.F. and Defender Missiles ... just don't seem to be worth a damn. They're all to badly designed to be worth mounting when there are so many other modules out there that work.
The way I've got it figured. Someone got the bright idea to create these modules ... and then ... as they were working on them ... realized that if these things worked well - they'd create a balancing problem - so they gimped them.
*shrug*
In any case, for whatever the reason, they are gimped.

As another poster above described they reduce you micromanagement by auto targeting back enemies which is good for missions and maybe it could be useful in a large pvp situation where it is difficult to quickly work out who is attacking you. I have used it a few times for missions and not had any of the problems described above. One thing you need to remeber is that it still is subject to locking times although it does actually show it is locking on the overwiew, so if you are in a battleship and try and lock a frigate it wont show anything until twenty or thirty seconds later. Also I havn't tested it on autorepeat as I just single click it when I want to lock so can't confirm wether this is the case on autorepeat as well.
