Apple announced Snow Leopard to be released in September of 2009.
There will be an update version for $29.00 USD.
Thank God... I was worried I'd have to shell out 150 bucks or something to update it.

They've also tweeked the Macbook Pros! Should have waited when I bought mine...damnit.
PS: 10.4 peeps don't bother asking... you need 10.5 to upgrade to 10.6 with the update discount unless Apple feels charitable. |

Snow Leopard - fixed link
It doesn't list any kind of special upgrade price on the Swedish Apple site. :( (yet?)

Or 49 USD for the family pack which, I think, is quite reasonable. |

of course, the real question is, will TransGaming be able to take advantage of all the cool multi-threading and the OpenCL and all that so that they can deliver us Eve on a performance-par with the windows version? |

Regardless of what TransGaming does, we're likely to see an overall performance improvement just because of all the low-level optimizations Apple's made in 10.6. |

The trick is whether they optimize there code to use those optimizations. ========================= CEO of Shadow Cadre http://www.shadowcadre.com ========================= Dependable, Honorable, Intelligent, No-nonsense Vote Herschel Yamamoto for CSM! |

Wrong.
$29 is the single license upgrade for current Leopard users. $49 is the family pack upgrade. Those that buy a new mac between June 8 and the date of release of Snow Leopard will be eligible for a free upgrade (but a $9.95 S&H fee applies to them).
Please, spend 1 minute of your time and check this out

Apple.com
Quote: Apple today unveiled Mac OS X Snow Leopard, an even more powerful and refined version of the worldÆs most advanced operating system that includes hundreds of refinements, new core technologies, out of the box support for Microsoft Exchange and new accessibility features. Snow Leopard will ship as an upgrade for Mac OS X Leopard users in September 2009 for $29. Apple also unveiled a Developer Preview of Mac OS X Server Snow Leopard, a full 64-bit UNIX server operating system based on open standards that is up to twice as fast as its predecessor.
And the 9 dollar price tag is also valid for people who have purchased a Mac since June 8th of 2009. |
