I just had a diskussion if a certain use of a game mechanic is considered an exploit or not.
I tried to use eve-search but all i found were different posts from players but nothing that is reliable.
So is there somewhere a list of what i am not allowed to do? |

The EULA might provide some results, but it could help if you supplied the game mechanic in question. |

If your not sure if its not an exploit, then I would suggest you discontinue doing it. If it isn't, that fine, if it was, you could get yourself in trouble. |

Edited by: Dirk Magnum on 10/06/2009 04:24:03 There is no complete list of exploits anywhere (because not all of them have been fixed.) Consult the EULA for rules and guidelines though. |

The specific game mechanic used is not that important. Im interestet in a reliable source where i ca look up if im posibly doing something which is considered an exploit.
I am very sorry, but i cant consider an other player a reliable source for that kind of information. |

Make a petition asking if its an exploit. |

Thats exacly my problem. I was told that what i was doing is considered an exploit but i wasnt even remotly thinking that it could be an exploit before that player told me. Yes i stopped doing it for now because im not sure. But i also want to get sure about it and i want a reliable source of information. |

Then make a petition to the Game-Masters under the appropriate section (It should be obvious enough) |

No matter how much you want it, There is absolutely no list of "Exploits" other than the obvious one everyone knows; Escaping Concord.
There is a very good reason that exploits are not listed anywhere; Because if they are unfixed people will abuse them and if they are fixed; Whats the point of knowing? |

The difference between an exploit and abusing game mechanics appears to have been lost in this thread.

Such a list does not exsist. The EULA however might give you a pinpoint. If you are still unsure you would be better of contacting the GMs before (mis)using this "game mechanic" so you dont risk your account. Better safe than sorry.

Thank you, i had the same feeling. Im not asking for a list of exploitable bugs (like the pos thing that was fixid a few months ago). Immore asking of which combination of indendet game mechanics is not allowed. |

Like it or not, your fellow players are your best dource of info here, barring a petition to GM's. Just state the tactic and get your damn answer man. |

It's not like they're ever going to put out a list of every known exploit for people to learn from and become inspired to find new ways of exploiting, it just won't happen.
If you want to know the ins and outs of sploiting join a spaceholding alliance, chances are they've got what you're looking for.

Edited by: Wacktopia on 10/06/2009 15:47:23 You need to use your common sense here. There are two main types of exploit you are not allowed to do:
1. Evade CONCORD punishment. 2. Exploit bugs.
If what you're doing appears to be some random side effect of a module or action then the chances are it's a bug exploit. Conversely, if what you are doing is documented as a game mechanic or is the effect of a documented attribute of a ship, module or other area of the game then it should be ok.
It is important to also understand the difference between something which is morally wrong (like theft, murder or scamming) that is within the game mechanics vs something that is technically wrong (cloak+mwd insta-warp bug) that is clearly a bug. |

You must also tell people you're a pirate if asked if you're in fact a pirate in local. |
