One of my chars has finally hit -5.05 with amarr (with an 8.71 standing with minmatar) due to mission running and shooting alot of amarr ships. Must be the secularist in me. While I can easily train diplomacy from 3 to 4 with will get me back over -5.0 standing so ill no longer will be shot, my question is this:
Are there methods to recover horrible standing beyond leeching story line standing of another char doing amarr missions? I have also heard that shared story line standings are pretty minuscule anyway although i may be incorrect. Also wont this method tank my minmatar standings which i would rather like to keep.
I have also heard you can gain standing by trading blood and sansha tags to a data centre but have also heard you need to be higher than -2.0 for them to even talk to you first which kind of screws me.
The final method is do i get any standings from just going to null sec and killing alot of blood and sansha rats?
So, are thier any decent ways to gain back my amarr standing or should i just go out and farm the faction police >:) |

You can't gain faction standings by sharing storyline missions. Only the mission "owner" gains faction standings from them. And ratting in nullsec will get your security status boosts, but no standings gains with Amarr.
Your only option is to run missions for an allied faction; how are your Caldari standings? In general, you won't be able to keep your Minmater standings at their current level if you want to bring your Amarr standings up significantly by the way. Though you won't have to drop them below zero like your Amarr standings currently are.

This. You can also try Ammatar, Mordu's Legion Command and Khanid. If their standings are also below -2.0 even with diplomacy 5, then you are screwed.

Wont those affect the minmatar standings? I have the same problem, starting to reach a -5 standing with amarr, and I want to be able to continue doing missions from my agents, while still being able to enter amarr space. |

I wouldn't worry about the Faction Police too much. I have well below -5 standing with the Amarr empire, yet I routinely operate in that region doing different things, and have never had an issue with faction police.
You'll get a message as you enter their space across your screen, but FP always web first, which actually puts you into warp faster, so even a BS can travel with relative safety across hostile space. If you are in a frigate, you are fine. --------------- He who stumbles around in the dark with a stick is blind. But he who sticks out in darkness is . . . fluorescent! |

I hope you're right and my time away from the game (since Dec) makes me wrong. For the better part of the last couple of years I've been shoot on sight for gallente & minmatar. I found this out when I got a mega popped, followed by an arazu and a taranis before I learned my lesson: as of Dec '08, a taranis can't warp fast enough to escape the FP.
YMMV.

They will, but then you have no other choice. |

Yes.
You can, if you are careful, maintain positive standings with all of the major Empire factions. Basically you run storyline missions for each faction in succession. The negative standings you get with Minmatar when completing an Amarr storyline is not as much as the positive standings you gain with Amarr. So by cycling through the various factions you can maintain positive standings with all of them. Somewhere I saw a breakdown of the most efficient way to do this. Personally I think it's too much work; just make sure you don't go too far negative with any faction (once you reach -2 that faction's agents will no longer talk to you), and have some L3 or L4 agents with every faction to give you a place to start...
However, you will probably not be able to maintain positive standings with pirate factions. If that matters to you. |
