When I started EVE, I downloaded the client for no charge, got a free trial, then got a discount for converting to a paid subscription. I guess I don't see a significant difference with what Steam is offering, except that Steam customers get a disc with the EVE logo on it, loaded with a client that is likely already obsolete before the package is opened.

Hmm, and I would have sworn that Steam was a digital distribution platform. |

How can you play any modern games and not have even heard of Steam and what it does?

Right, then not even a disc with the EVE logo on it. Is that an improvement?

Edited by: Doctor Penguin on 12/06/2009 22:51:46 In essence, Steam is offering upgrade-to-paid-accounts for ú4.49. Hence, a newbie can get 51 days for less than ú5. The offer they made at the time of QR's release was what prompted me to start the game with Doctor Penguin (previously I was playing on a 14 day trial as a character called Peng Guin.)
I always wondered if that would count as an activation so you can get 30 days via the Buddy Program. 90 days for the price of 30? |

So my buddy is going to upgrade to a paying account. Question is if he uses this deal for 7.49 can he still use me for the buddy program so i can get a free month? |

Does that 51 Days include the 2 PLEX Licences that can be sold for 350 million each?

Well, in Canada, I had to pay $19.95 for the first month and the registration fees. I originally got a trial account from this website. I had tried the 21-day trial from Steam before, it worked, but when I tried to do a upgrade-to-paid account on the steam site (It was $9.95 at this time, half the price of the EvE website price), it wouldn't work. It had something to do with the credit card not working. Funny though, when I went onto the main EvE website and tried the upgrade there, everything worked except it was alittle more expensive.
Has anybody got an account from Steam yet?

Explain to me how I can activate my account with PLEX and get 51 days game time, and then still have 2 PLEX left over. ________________________________________________

My bad . What I meant to ask was, does the download comes with the option to convert gametime to plex like the boxed set did. I rmember a uk websight selling the boxed edition for some silly price (ú7.99) and people snapped them up for the 2 plexes included. |
