Not as such. So even after adding your characters back in (and ticking the boxes to enable that char) they still don't show up in the program itself?

It worked the day before. I didn't change anything in the EVE Mac Tools, but I did change my character images in EVE itself.

PS: I've changed my API key before I uploaded the image in case anyone's wondering. It was valid at the time I took it, though.

It's nice to see the Mac Community getting some much needed love. This app is a sweet tool. Thanks for going out of your way to make it.

Edited by: Keldeena on 16/02/2011 16:38:20 Hi, Firstly - thanks for the app - I'm just getting back into Eve after a 2 year absence..
Secondly, I'm not sure if someone else has taken over development or if you are still fixing the occasional bug, but hopefully you can at least tell me if this is a bug or not.
When I add skills to the planner, it gives me the list and down the bottom a summary - 4 skills planned. Total training time 43 Days, 16 Hours...
When I click the gear to modify my attributes to see about saving some time through a re-map, the "Original training time" is 51d 10h..
Shouldn't the summary number at the bottom of the skill planner and the basic number in the attribute calculator be the same?

Yep I see what you mean. That would be a bug.

EDIT: I suspect it's because you have a skill partially trained. From memory the attribute planner does not factor that in to its calculations.
OK, I changed the queue around a bit and removed partly trained skills and the numbers now match.
Thanks for the work-around.

Just wanted to pass along another note of thanks. I've tried EvE in the past and have always felt frustrated and at a disadvantage for not having access to EveMon. This is the best alternative I've seen.

I found this program on github and compiled it from source a few days ago, and so far I have found no bugs.
Mac Eve Tools has been great for quickly checking prerequisites of ships and skills while doing other stuff in game, and the ability to create a skill plan based on a ship is really useful.
Hope this continues to be updated so that it is current. Even if no new big features are added, this program is great as it is! |

Well... there were a few warnings when I compiled the program, no errors though.
The only "bug" I found was just me being stupid; I tried putting my username into the account ID box...
Actually, thinking about it, I think there one tiny bug I found: Sometimes the picture for a ship wont load.
A minor gripe I have with the ship prerequisites box is that it is full of a lot of stats that I guess might be useful, but I have not been able to find the cargo space in there.
So there, I found a bug, happy now?

@Quorks: Does this bug happen with all skills, or only the new Connections skills that were added with Incursion 1.5? All of the other skills should work fine.
@Abernathy: Go into the Accounts pane in Preferences, then click the "+" button that is under the field that contains your current account, and add the details. Should work after that.
@Sue, and everyone else that may be interested: I've been hacking away at the code for a couple of weeks in my spare time, and I've finally got a new database that I've been working at for a while now that has the new Connections skills that were introduced with Incursion 1.5. I am going to shoot off an email to Flammard and see about taking over development of this sweet little application, which will include a Mac App Store version as well as a separate version for those that want it. I am also going to see about starting development again for Leopard users, but I don't want to promise anything yet. I also plan to be working on getting a version working for Lion ASAP so it will hopefully ready to go for Lion's launch.
If anyone has any suggestions for new features, feel free to post them up here or send me an eve mail and I'll see what I can do. I'm looking at potentially making a ship-fitting tool my first order of business for new features.

Jumer, I sent an evemail and wouldn't mind discussing options for a Mac or maybe even an iOS based tool. My undocked time in EVE is already fairly restricted but I'd like to contribute something.

@Jumer: I was looking at the available API calls and you can request the current skill tree. Instead of waiting for a database update perhaps the first thing to change would be to switch the app to using the published skill tree. That would remove one major dependency on someone manually providing updated data.
I'd suggest that MET should query for the API version of the skill tree when an unknown skill in encountered but also provide a means to request an update for when a user knows new skills have been published. |

I looked at that too, and think it is probably the way to go at this point, it is going to require at least a little bit of a rewrite to the underlying structure of the app as the certificates and ship skill requirements all reference the skill tree in the database, as they are loaded in the database too. I apologize for not getting back to you sooner, right now I am working on a huge project at work for an announcement next week, but I should be able to touch base with you this weekend hopefully, unless last minute problems come up at work that need my assistance over the weekend.
I already have the database update ready to go, I just need to get it all set up with new hashes and everything, again something I am hoping to get done for this weekend.
As for an iOS version, it should be doable without too much hassle, but I would like to get Mac Eve Tools in a better place first.

Edited by: Flammard on 02/06/2011 10:59:43 The early versions of the program did actually use the XML api to get the skill tree and certificate data. I ended up rewriting this to use the database because:
Every time CCP released a new patch I had to make the program re download the skill tree and certificate XML sheet. I had to use the database anyway to get ship data, and I had to keep that up to date, so why not use the database for both.
If you get your mining hat on and go digging through the revision history you should find the XML skill sheet / certificate parsing code.
Querying the API every time an unknown skill is encountered wont work as there are very old characters that have weird skills like black market connections or something like that that aren't seeded and do nothing.
TBH I'd totally forgotten about providing an updated database as I hardly turn on my mac anymore. I'll push a new version out on the weekend if I get a chance.
Feel free to shoot me an email if you want to discuss anything. With any luck I might even remember what I was smoking when I wrote the code :D

Thanks for the insight Flammard. It's always great to hear from the author.
An updated database and access to the scripts you made would be fantastic. Please let us know when they are on github and I'll take a look.
I'll definitely take a look through the version history for the XML skill tree code as well. |

That is great to hear, Flammard, I am quite interested in seeing those scripts. I sent you an email a little while ago with a question about the checksums on the database downloads, more specifically my lack of being able to see how they are generated. Any insight you could provide would be great!

I've updated the source tree on github, it now includes the database scripts in dbscripts/ directory which at the top level of the source tree.
CCP hasn't released a new DB dump yet (or I can't find it), so I can't provide an updated database until they do.

Yes, right click on the portrait and click on "Delete Portrait." Then just click the "Reload" button that's right above the portrait and you'll have the new portrait. Unfortunately, right now you have to do each character separately, but hopefully I can work on something to let you do all of the portraits at once.

Thanks for taking this on Jumer, I would of hated to see this fantastic application fall off the face of the earth. If you need any help with graphics, app icons and stuff let me know, feels like the least I can do to help keep this app going into the future.
