I mentioned mining ops, I forgot to mention plexing, but that is similar to missioning, you only use the BARE number of people ABSOLUTELY necessary in order to maximize your profit margin. (Or just use multiple accounts.) Not very conducive to working as a team.
That's a function of having a meaningful economy: efficiency becomes relevant. But the harder plexes still require a team, albeit nothing like what I imagine the 40-man raids in WoW must be like. I'm pretty sure that the higher level wormholes are basically impossible to solo as well.
As far as "alts" go... we've all seen that pic of the guy controlling 15 or however many WoW characters at once, so that factor is hardly unique to EvE. |

Well, that is a valid point. So I probably will not devote my game-time to just one MMO. A terrible sin, I know. |

Not to me. God, play what you like. I'm only in this thread because of the "Bulgarians are bad because they have blue noses" factor; people get hung up on whether having a blue nose makes people bad, and forget to check the actual nasal colouration of Bulgarians. |

Originally by: Bestofworst I see more variety in Eve missions than I do in WoW quests. Each killquest is just a "Kill X boars" and each kill and collect is "Kill boars until you get X livers". While eve has "Destroy the docked bestower", "Destroy the research center", "Rescue the damsel". And that sort of stuff.
But hey, if you like going to WoW, go for it, see you when you come back.
"rescue the damsel" - loot the item called Damsel off some npc.
"Destroy research center" - kill some npc
WOW quests at least give you a different story as to why you're kiling boars. In EVE you just do the EXACT same mission with the EXACT same story.

I'm pretty sure that WoW has better missions than EvE, having watched my brother play a few times. Much greater variety of rats, terrain features, pretty colours, huge raids, etc etc etc ad infinitum.
So if all you want to do is missions then WoW is a better game, really. I'm baffled as to why people would play EvE if all they want to do is do missions.
The only thing that the EvE missions have that WoW doesn't, is that they can be used to fund other (and to me vastly more entertaining) in game activities.

Well in eve you can kill absolutely anyone you want, no questions asked.
In WoW the onyl way to fight someone of your own faction to the death is some tiny and absolutely barren parts of the world or the arena system which is just fotm fotm and more fotm. ---- My Music |

I agree arena is FOTM, but if you're going to say that EVE has any form of PVE you are kidding yourself. The game is riddled with ways of abuse and griefing other players. My idea of fun is to log on and play a game I enjoy, not go into Africa and question everything in the game because its a scam.

Get out of empire then. Things are much simpler and the locals are generally much better behaved in alliance space.

I was going to write a long long post, but decided all of I'm going to write has already been written, so I'm just posting few lines.
You want to leave because you didn't have fun or some issues started to get annoying, its cool, you can do that, in fact, you should do that. You are paying money for this after all.
What you shouldn't do is, going to public forums and making a big deal over it. Just send an email (probably the best way to get in touch with developers) or type it in to the "suggestions" box right before you confirm cancellation.
I've been playing MMO's for the past decade, and the annoyances you listed are the exact reason why I have 4 active accounts and paying 4 subscription fee's for this game.
I think you and your girlfriend should try the "annoyances" you listed yourselves. I'm 99% sure you'll find it more fun than anything you've done in all of other MMO's you've played. |

Have fun in WoW, I go back occasionally to take a break and chill out, do some raids, play some arena which is what I'm doing now.
The thing with EVE is that without a corp it's really hard to stick for any length of time because you are right, the immersion and solo content is not there. This is pretty much on purpose though, it's like CCP realise that people stick MMO's loooooooong term because of the people they game with not the game they play so the whole game is catering for group play/group protection :) |

I see someone resurrected this thread :)
Got a lot more mature posts, still the odd stupid one but no matter.
For clarification, I am not leaving permanently, I'm taking a break. For clarification, my account is still active because it doesnt expire until early July. I play whilst it is active cos it's a waste of money not to. For clarification, again (!), this post is here because this is THE SUGGESTED MEDIUM for provding this kind of feedback. I've done it before, the GMs have asked me to post here before. It is the recommended way of doing it, and the right way (jeez, havnet you seen all the deve responses to posts on new player experiences syaing how they appreciate the posts and read them with interest??????).
And yes, there do seem to be people who are totally insulting an rude simply because I challenged some aspects of a game they also play. Get over it.
One final clarification. This thread isn't an EVE versus WoW thread. I wish people would stop posting all about that. Some of your responses defy logic and sense. Let me explain.
I am taking a break from EVE and will play WoW for a bit
This DOES NOT EQUAL "I want to play WoW because it is better than EVE" or any similar vein of thought. I need a break from EVE, simple as that. In my spare time during this break, I will happen to take up another MMO that I havent played for a while, because it's easier for me to immerse into.
Anyway, keep responding if you think there's something that hasn't been covered, but seriously, don't bother if you're going to post moronically to points that were not raised in the original post, or without reading the original post. |
