OK.. I've had a sudden change of heart and im going to try something constructive.. Who can remember their first lowsec kill??
Mine was back in the summer of 65.. Wait.. Umm.. OK I cant remember the date exactly.. I was pretty new and being a noob with no one to show me the ropes I had raced to the biggest ship I could.. That being a t1 fitted Hyperion. I saved for what felt like forever and kitted it out the best I could with my very limited skills, I think I even had some named stuff.. I broke the first rule of piracy and flew what I couldn't afford to replace.
Feeling invincible I went roaming out in to lowsec.
A huge 2 jumps out I decide to bait someone to a belt (I was convinced that the gate and station guns were going to pop me, and TBH they probably would have) so I started ratting. A full 30 mins later and I've totally cleaned the belts out, so I'm warping from belt to belt looking for new rats. Just as I take off from a belt I see another ship land (I honestly cant remember what it was but I think it was a cruiser) and my heart stops.. I forget to disengage the warp drive and im away..
I land at zero at the other belt (noob remember) and quickly try to warp back.. Not seconds later the other ship lands and engages me! I get scrammed (which was good because I forgot to cancel warp again) and webbed and he starts to lay in to me.. I desperately try and lock him but my shields are gone before I manage it.. I start to panic as I lock and point him (but forget to web him) and open up with my t1 blasters.
I have no idea what his skills were like but I oneshotted his shields.. I was pretty much doing base damage with not best named large blasters and not antimatter, but at least I had fitted 8 of them.. I remember I have drones and a web so I launch them and web him too..
Long story short(er) I get him in to structure as he gets me down to about 90% armour and I get a GF in local.. He pops shortly after and my heart keeps pounding as his pod warps away.. I didn't even think about trying to pod him I was just so happy that I killed someone (and he agroed me so I didn't get a sec loss).
I think I warped away leaving my hammerheads in the belt and docked up as soon as I could to log and calm down. I remember looting some void ammo from his wreck..

Fairly embarrassing.
Was having a wander round some low sec looking for some complexes to kill and do some ratting. Happily chatting away to my corp mates when I notice the same pilot had followed.
Went to type into corp chat that I hoped I wasn't being stalked and realised I'd typed it in local. Anyway he typed back that he was a noob ratting and a quick check of his sheet showed positive sec status so I ignored him.
A minute later I'm fighting a couple of BS rats and some cruisers in my Harbie when a rifter warps in, webs and points me. For about 30 seconds I pretty much froze and as I saw structure damage start to turn up reckoned I was going to die. At that point suddenly my brain came back to me. I set my drones on him, webbed him and mwd out to get enough range to watch my lasers tear him apart.
Was so very greatful to avoid explaining that loss mail to the directors. |

Nice read Lana ♥
I'm pretty sure mine was in a vexor... again just having stepped up from a Tristan and feeling nberpowerful. OMG I can launch 4 drones! Look at all these slots to fill >_<
I cant remember what I had fitted but I was low sec ratting that's for sure... some pie in a rifter comes to my belt and attacks me. I sit for a minute wondering when hes going to leave then realise he's actually going some good damage. OMG A frigate can hurt me! I move the drones over to him (autolock on NOOB!) and it's all over very quickly. I carry on working the belts but convo him and ask "What do you think you were trying to do?" like I was some experienced player and he was very silly. A month later I looked up the character to see what he was up to; he was -10 in a pirate corp
I was a carebear for a very long time. Still am tbh. |

When I first went to lowsec it was to make a career as a honorable anti pirate so there wasn't always so many targets around or they were very good at not getting caught. One day my CEO tells me there is a pirate megathron flying around so we gang up, me in a ferox and my CEO in a dominix go and kill the evil pirate without much trouble. Because I was clueless about the security status mechanics I podded the guy (non-outlaw) and my sec goes down to like -1.3, it made me feel good and I was starting to realise that sometime in the future I was probably going to become a pirate

My first lowsec kill was a cluster**** of metric proportions lead by none other than the Noob Mercs on their first fleet.
He flew a geddon with these items
Quote: Destroyed items:
Gamma S, Qty: 2 Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane I 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I, Qty: 4 X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator Wasp I, Qty: 4 (Drone Bay) Medium Pulse Laser II, Qty: 2 650mm Medium Prototype I Siege Cannon (Cargo) Ultraviolet L, Qty: 3 (Cargo)
Dropped items:
Heavy Electrochemical Capacitor Booster I Gamma S, Qty: 2 Cap Booster 800, Qty: 12 (Cargo) 1600mm Reinforced Steel Plates I Cap Booster 800, Qty: 4 Large Armor Repairer II Medium Plasma Smartbomb I N-Type Reactive Membrane I Medium Graviton Smartbomb I Wasp I (Drone Bay) J5 Prototype Warp Inhibitor I Medium Pulse Laser II, Qty: 2 Ultraviolet L, Qty: 3 (Cargo)
And he was killed by 58 frigates and rookie ships. Shortly after he was podded by 12 of us. He managed to kill 3 :P
Suffice to say, it's nowhere near the lowsec pvp I've come to know, but it certainly made me crazy about it. |

I honestly dont know
I think it was some guy in a cruiser whom i killed with a (poorly fitted but 5 ogres) myrm. He swore revenge unto me and kept trying on various alts apparently designed soley to kill me up until about a year ago. We also may have got his main char banned. I feel all sorts of special thinking about how emoraged he must have been...
Though, im still not certain this was my first losec kill, but i know for certain that our first kill was a raven that we failblobbed then practically our whole fleet got killed by a drake as it just kept tanking about 5 of us And to finish, thank you for reading my sig -------------------------------------------------- If you are still reading i would probably hav posted by now |

Honestly don't remember.
I started this game from day one by living in lowsec, and I do remember some early engagements. But I can't recall my first kill. All my early engagements was together with my brother tho, so I definately wasn't alone. And the area where we hang out had some nasty pirates that was flying battleships (battleships!) while we could only field cruisers.. so it was scary as hell, generally we just ran when we saw them.
I do remember the heart racing and panic feelings tho. |

My first low sec kill was a retriever. Its kinda funny too because i first warped to the belt in a drake while i was ratting but didnt want to engage because it was my first drake so i got my blackbird and fit it up for solo pvp. Thinking he would leave i rushed in and found that he was still there and locked him. But there was rats so i killed them first and didnt think to put a scram on them. And then i waited for my shields to come back (which took a while because it was a pretty standard fit bb with a scram). Then i finally fought him and looted his stuff:) I think he emo rage quit too because I dont remember seeing him online again. |

So I dug back in the annals of my killmails that I'd put up on Battleclinic..turns out my first kill was a goon. I actually remember the kill now.
We'd been having issues with goons throwing their members into the little backwater we were calling home at the time for kills and whatnot. And I'd gotten killed several times by the guy. (And thrown isk on at least one occasion for being an excellent target to chase around because I was giving him directional scanner practice )
Since several times a rail fit destroyer was killed, along with several frigates... I decided that dual webs, a scram, and blasters were in order, fitting by process of elimination at the time since I hadn't discovered the forums, fitting guides, or much help from corpmates or other folks who were hanging out in the lowsec pocket we were in. So I fit a full rack of ion blasters, girded my loins, and went out to let him find me since he had been doing so rather unerringly over the course of the previous weeks.
So he finds me, setting up for a tight orbit and blasting...when my lock finally resolves and I unleash everything I had.
Destroyers are flying coffins, they truly are...but you don't want to get stuck going really slowly at their optimal if you are in a frigate...because it *will* chew you a new one for they are sledgehammers wrapped with an eggshell. It was a race through structure. Fortunately I had a lot more than he did. And he blew up rather satisfyingly.
I got a good fight out of it in local. The pod zipping off. The loot mine for the taking. Hands shaking.
Ah, memories. --

Edited by: Sytoru Hiroshyma on 15/06/2009 19:53:06 Ah, the memories.
My first kill in lowsec was also my first ever kill. I'd only been playing a couple of weeks and had ended up in this corp that was preparing to go rent some 0.0 out in Fade. Anyway, our CEO had been giving us noobs some pvp training so me and a corpie decided to go see what all this pvp was about.
We jump into Aunenen from Nonni and our first surprise was that there was no gank squad sitting on the gate (oh the horror stories you hear when you're a noob). We then start checking the belts and there is a nice shiny mining barge, a quick discussion over vent decides the issue. If I remember right the "discussion" ran something like: Wanna try it? Yeah sure.
On go the MWDs and both our Rifters burn straight for it, he starts aligning for warp but we know it won't save him. In range now we lock target and point him, I fire up my ECM (I said we were noobs didn't I?) and jam him as our autocannons start chewing through his shields. Hearts pounding he enters armour and it melts then there was a pretty explosion. Awesome feeling.
We carry on going through the belts but there is nothing else in them so we decide to call it a day. Not wanting to get caught on the way out we decide that it'd be a good idea to warp to the gate at 100km to check it out.
We land on the gate and after a second or two my corpie is screaming over vent that he's being fired on and is going down. Not wanting to show cowardice I stop aligning for warp and start scrolling the screen around trying to find out what ship has him targetted - maybe we could scare them off? No chance, he goes pop and then it's my turn. I stare in horror at my screen as the red bars all fill up at once and BAMM my lovely Rifter becomes nothing more than space junk.
Turns out that since we were heading to 0.0 the CEO had decided not to bother teaching us about GCCs and those things called gate guns.

Nice topic, good reads.
Mine isn't so much of a kill as getting killed. It started with me in a 1600mm plated Maller, and I belive a combo of t1/t2 fittings with armor rep. I Was roaming low sec with a Scorpion and I believe a geddon gang (memory is failing me). Happened upon another scorpion, stabber, and some other BS. Any way the bs's didnt really matter, I was one on one with that nano stabber, got him into armor before he popped me.
But before I left the system the pair of BS's I was with polished him off. And shortly there after the two BS's I ganged with were popped shortly after. I just remember it was a short fight, but fun as hell and gf's all around. Got my heart pounding and breathing fast. Yes I know I'm not that great at telling stories :P

Edited by: Agarwaen Macil on 16/06/2009 03:21:07 Actually, my first low sec kill was only a few months ago (and to be honest I haven't had too many more since then). I've been playing on and off since '06 (at least a year or more of that training time missed, god I love the training queue), and as much as I hated it, I carebeared it up in high sec for the longest time. I bought into the 'low sec is death' that near everyone in high sec preaches. Most of the down time I've had in EVE has been because I found missions and industry so incredibly boring. Still, even when I'm a noob I'm not as stupid as I could be, and I did a lot of research on how to proceed into a life of yarrr while I languished in high sec (I lurked around C&P for years before I ever posted).
My first kill was using a Vexor, with very good support skills, and a proper fit. I started my roams around the Black Rise region, and after many days of not really finding anything good, I came across an Arbitrator and a T1 frig (I think it was Caldari, I failed to kill it, so I forgot) ratting in a belt. It was nothing special really; the pilot of the Arbi was a lot younger than mine, and the ship wasn't fit as well as mine, mostly all T1, whereas I had almost all T2, including my drones (although it wasn't a failfit). He popped, and the T1 frig and his pod warped out before I could get a lock or point on either (I forgot to lock the T1 frig, I know, I suck). Still, got my blood up more than any MMO has since Asheron's Call a decade ago.
Of course, I don't claim to be some sort of pvp prodigy, I've done a lot of terribly stupid things too. I tend to forget important bits of information. My first engagement in lowsec was in an AF and I attacked a Caracal. My point failed for some reason (had warp stabs I guess) and he made it to a gate, and me being an idiot I followed. I didn't even realize my mistake until I was sitting in my pod and the Caracal was long gone. My most recent "suicide is my only option" moment was when I just started jumping gates randomly. I thought I was deep into low sec, and I failed to notice that I had just made a jump back into a 0.5 system. When a pack of miners popped up on the scanner, it still didnt clue me in. I decided I'd try to pop one or two just for ****s and giggles and then vamoose. Concord obviously, had different ideas. Luckily I don't think they even knew what the hell happened - I somehow managed to warp out to a planet before Concord caught up to me and kicked my ass - so I wasn't mocked for my idiocy, but you guys can take care of that now.

Edited by: Epegi Givo on 16/06/2009 04:18:01 It was pretty recent (highsec got really boring, so I decided to give lowsec a try.)
I went to a lowsec in my arbitrator, and picked up a harpy and manticore on directional.
After a bit the manticore turned into a wreck (I was warping around the belts looking for something). Two people in local said GF. Then when I was warping away from a belt, a harpy warped into the belt. It was too late for me to cancel warp and I went away.
Then I started to warp back, and right as I warped away he warped in to where I just was.
I decided to stay at the belt, and he warped in right next to me. He had GCC from killing the manticore and shot at me first.
Unfortunately for him, my arby is designed specifically for killing ships smaller than me (Mini-curse set-up).
I scram and web him, he has scrams me. I launch hammerheads IIs and start hitting him. I also turn on the NOSs and Neuts and after a bit his guns turn off and his scram stops.
I realize that even with his tank off I was still doing almost nothing. I show info on his ship, and find out harpys have an insanely high thermal resists.
I withdraw drones, and launch warrior IIs which very quickly bring him down to struct.
I withdraw drones drones, and hold him there. I convo and offer a ransom. I say 15 mil, he says yes. I say that he has 15 seconds to pay up, or I kill him. I count the first 6 seconds WAY (About 3 counts per second) and slow down.
He still hasn't paid. Even though I actually gave him 11 seconds, that is still enough time to press the give money button.
I say "Time's Up" and sick the warriors back onto him. He dies very quickly. He complains that I didn't give him enough time, and I said 11 seconds was plenty. He then told me he was transfering money from his alt (and waiting for 2 corp mates to show up too most likely). I check his wreck, and find out that he dropped a faction shield booster .
Easily worth 10 mill, along with the covert ops II cloak he looted from the manticore.
Got around 17 mill from it, so I didn't mind that he didn't pay the ransom.
I didn't find out if he had friends coming, because I immediately left, went to jita, and sold the stuff.
Killmail
For some odd reason BC thinks there were 4 covops cloacks and 3 sensors. There really weren't (wish there were)
But that was just the first. And with many more to follow. |

I started playing EVE with an industry toon and was terrified of low sec. But outlaws are sooo charismatic...if you hang out with even a single one of them, the yarr will soon beckon irresistibly. Thus Mynxee was born and after a few months of training, I found myself in Decon as a member of Death of Virtue (thanks to the recommendation of my inspirational outlaw buddy). DoV was a great place to learn by example how to pirate. I got in on a lot of kills with the boys. While I don't remember my first kill in low sec, my first solo kill stands out quite clearly.
Having been inspired deathforge's vids of solo kills in a Rifter, I set out to get my first legitimate solo kill (e.g., not a rookie ship!). I sat at a safe in my Rifter, scanning the belts. Suddenly, an Omen showed up. ZOMG CRUISER! Hands shaking, heart pounding, I warped to the belt at 0 hoping he'd be there (I was less than confident with the d-scanner in those days). ZOMG he was there! Right THERE!!! Shaking from excitement, I rather fumblingly engaged...sure I would die but knowing that I'd never get a solo kill unless I tried. As I recall, it was a tough fight--I ended up doing 6,563 damage to kill that ship. But to my everlasting amazement, I won! What a buzz!
Therein lies addiction. To this day, solo engagements in my Rifter remain my very favorite kind of fights, especially when it's very close and you don't know til the last few seconds what the outcome will be. And especially when my opponent is in a cruiser that I kill (not that that happens often, LOL)!

Once upon a time I was in a corp that frowned upon PVP, so I had an evil alt :)
My evil alt was in Hek, I had just fitted out a rifter and I noticed someone in local asking "isn't there anyplace with rocks bigger than these?" oh hell yea! I immediately convo'ed him, told him I'd take him into Otou and guard him while he mined to his hearts content the giant veldspar rocks he's find there. So we fleeted up and met at the Otou gate. We both jumped, and off he warped to a random belt.
I followed, landing right next to him, and immediately tore apart his Bantam. He even got a new clone just moments later.
It was so wrong. It was so evil. I loved it.

I think in my whole eve career I've only have 4 or 5 solo kills. I'm horribly bad on my own and I much prefer to play the utility roll in gangs (prober/tackle/bubble..... sometimes all in the same ship). That's not to say I cant lay out the hurt but it has become evident that the other members of my corp are WAY better skilled than me, so their DPS is quite a bit larger than mine.
You wait till I convince them to run a ceptor gang.. Then I'll show them.. |
