Trying to figure out these aggression mechanics. I noticed once while I was in a fight in 0.0 I could not access the jump gate. The game displayed some sort of error. Luckily after a bit I was able to jump to lose aggro from enemy gang
Anyway, what conditions can you not use a jumpgate?
1. If I have a scram/disrupt on a target can I still use a jumpgate? 2. Let's say I'm in my interceptor, etc and enemy gets a point on me can I use the jumpgate to escape?
When can you not use the jumpgate? |

Activating ANY module that results in an aggression countdown prevents you from jumping/docking. |

Drones, Turets, Missiles, Ewar etc..
RR is fine, Sensor Boosting etc..
There is a motley crew of ways they stop you from getting to the gate tho.

You can also not use a jump gate 30 seconds after joining a fleet. Not the 30 after you click 'yes' to join, but the 30 seconds after the actual fleet chat window pops up.
The other weird one is you cannot jump after your ship is destroyed. Entering your pod after losing a ship counts as a session change and you need to wait 30 seconds for it to expire. As with all things, I learned this the hard way.
Good luck,

Not entirely true, it seems a bit wonky (I had a Deimos pilot jump out immediately when his Deimos blew up, he was sitting on the gate spamming jump with aggression). Anyway, the proven practice of warping to a celestial when dying still holds true, only try to jump if you're already bubbled in the first place.
But yes, as mentioned, session change (30 seconds) & aggression (1 minute) will both prevent you from jumping. If you get traffic control or something similar you can also be delayed a bit, but usually spamming jump gets you through that.
Edit: And no, scramblers or bubbles won't stop you from jumping. But apparently bubbles stop you from using a JB? |

It is a bit wonky. I myself have jumped out immediately in a pod after losing a ship and thought this was working properly. Then I lost a pod recently trying the same thing and was denied jumping due to a session change. Petitioned it and I was told that the session change after ship destruction is the proper mechanic, no matter what anomalies exist. Therefore, like Intigo, I highly recommend warping to a celestial as your first pod escape option and jumping only if that is not possible.

Does the aggression timer apply if you only react to an attack? For example someone attacks you and you counter-attack (e.g. neuting them to try and get them to drop the point) |

If you have a bubble up and someone warps into it you get a countdown. i'm sure this is true.

Yea this is something that ****es me off, CCP need to address this bull****, due to the session change and lag, its actualy easier for the wts to pop your pod rather than you getting to use the gate... |

Euhm, no. If there is a ****load of lag you actually got a chance your pod survives 30 seconds. But in general your pod will never survive if you try to jump through a gate. Only when you are really lucky. |

Only if you're in a bubble, otherwise, yes, just warp away to a SS or celestial...

Funny, I made this post on our alliance forum earlier today, handy to just have to copy&paste :P
Just making sure everyone knows about this little gem; you can have the session timer show onscreen, meaning you'll know where you can jump a gate again, dock, join fleet or whatever. Session timer lasts 30 seconds and when in combat it's difficult to gauge the time really, it's better to rely on facts.
Hit escape and go to general settings, top left column tick the "show session timer" box. It's dififcult to notice the stupid thing the first time but it's a small clock timer thingy top left of the screen, just above your location.
