After today's downtime my client told me it was corrupt and need to be re-installed. I downloaded - http://ccp.vo.llnwd.net/o2/EVE_Premium_Setup_89883.exe - http://ccp.vo.llnwd.net/o2/EVE_Premium_Setup_89883_m.exe-downloader.exe - http://ccp.vo.llnwd.net/o2/EVE_Premium_Setup_89883_m.exe but all three tell me: - - - Extracting EVE_Premium_Setup_89883.exe Extracting eveonline_89883.7z CRC failed in eveonline_89883.7z - - - and that when downloaded either with my desktop or notebook! I simply can't install Eve-Online any more! It was running fine till today, never had anny related downloading problems before. I know there are threads about that from may when apocrypha got oout but I thought that is fixed or at least doesn't occur anymore. Is there any solution for that? Couldn't find one in the threads. Thanks!

1) Delete ALL traces of Eve from your computer. That also means deleting the cache file which, under XP, is hidden in local settings (yourcomputer/docs and settings/yourname/localsettings) you MUST have 'show hidden files and folders selected (use these forums to find correct path for Vista). Use 'search' function to find all of Eve on your comp if you must. 2) Reboot to clear temp folder 3) Download 7-zip. Its a free utility and its what CCP use to pack the client 4) Download the FULL Eve client which MUST end in _m.exe 5) Use 7-zip to CHECK the file 6) If 5 showed no errors - Use 7-zip to unpack the file (make a folder on your desktop, place client in it, right click client and choose 'extract here' option) 7) 2 files now made, one is a .cab file and the other is a small exe file). Run the exe file and install Eve
Now, if this goes wrong there is a possibility that you have suffered from a RAM error under install. If that is the case, open your comp case, remove ALL but 1 stick of ram. That stick MUST be in the first slot - usually the slot nearest the cpu). Try again.

easier to just use a memtester for a quick check, let it run a complete pass (not the upper pass thing, but the second complete test progress)

Edited by: Whitehound on 18/06/2009 11:50:45 Disable any support for web proxies. Could be that a web proxy caches a broken copy.
If your ISP provides a transparent proxy then try EVE's bit torrent client instead of FTP/HTTP.
And if you were using EVE's bit torrent then try the opposite (=> FTP/HTTP). -- If there is anything in your life you fear of losing, then keep your mouth shut once in a while. |

I downloaded the client again on my notebook and don't get an error there. But whenever I copy that to my desktop pc either by WLAN, Ethernet or external HDD I get the crc error again. The chkdsk was running fine on my system partition and data partition too. So probably no virus, no ram error, no hdd error ... ?! I feel like having to setup a clean vista install to see if that works there. If not that might be an HDD error?!
