can anyone here recomend a good FPS thats not to expensive and can be played at a 3 year old computer without needing to remove all the graphics?
it dont need to be a new game...i just want it to be good
PS: i got HL1, HL2, deus ex, CoD 4 and red faction(not sure where that one is though). i also dont want left for dead as i prefere a singleplayer game for this.

F.E.A.R with it's collection of expansion? Should be a decent enough shooter, the gold edition shouldn't be to expensive nowadays.

Hellgate: London. It is dead, but was a pretty good grind. Lots of stuff to shoot, coming from all sides and making you move. Requires DX9 or DX10. -- If there is anything in your life you fear of losing, then keep your mouth shut once in a while. |

Edited by: Blane Xero on 18/06/2009 17:40:14 Zak, might want to list all the games you have tried in your OP, granted that may take a while but this thread is going to just keep going in that direction
Edit: I'll suggest Unreal tournament 99, or 2004. Either are decent time wasters. But something tells me you've either played them to death, or didn't enjoy them ^^ ___________________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

I was going to recommend that but you beat me to it. The ONLY problem I had with that game was that there wasn't enough shooting. If you do all the side missions and extra planets and stuff then like 1/3 of your time is spent on the Citadel. 1/3 of your time is spent in a car shooting things from vary far away. And then the last third is you actually getting to use your skills in combat.

The best FPS MMO ever was Hellgate: London. Many players hated it, because they expected something completely different. However, the grind in hardcore elite was fantastic. When you died did you lose your character permanently. Together with the 99% reliability of the Internet and a few bugs was this game pure hell. The name said it out loud - "Hellgate" - but people could not accept that this was the idea of the game (except for a few bugs). Some then only played in the rather save and easy mode, got bored and complained like ballerinas about absolutely everything. But getting to level 50, when every monster was out to kill you was only mind blowing. Some monsters were almost invisible (i.e. 10% visibility), but these could kill you with just one strike. People hated it - I freakin' loved it. My hair stood on its end in those moments. Even when everyone was using ventrilo and acted cool did this game crawl under your skin. Now its all gone. For most was this game too much hell. |

Definitely not a new game, but Wolfenstein 3D (not the newer ones, but the original DOS game). It's available for download on several websites, and is still considered the Father of the FPS (next to DOOM). The sequel Spear of Destiny is good as well.
I'd also recommend some of the starwars FPS games such as Dark Forces, Dark Forces II, Jedi: Outcast, Jedi: Academy. |

Mass Effect is awesome, you can even execute some characters unlike NWN or KOTOR2
Then there's Crysis, Deadspace, Unreal Tournament 3. If you have HL2 from steam, you should already have CS:S. There's also Dark Messiah, but you don't get to shoot much cuz you mostly fight with a sword, unless you pick a bow and ranged magic spells. But then there's a lot of original ways to kill the enemy, so try to get a demo for it to try it first. uʍop ǝpısdn ǝɹnʇɐuƃıs ʎɯ ƃuıpɐǝɹ ǝɹɐ noʎ

go shoot some pool instead. always does the trick for me.
i'm too lazy to install, patch, troubleshoot, find out how to enable widescreen (if at all possible), and then play a game.. only to realize it sucks ... and then repeat it all for another game.
seriously, sometimes it can take 2-3 hours before I actually get to the point where I can play the sodding game :( latest culprit: Blacksite. |

Lodestar Pilot(for an unarmed plane, i attracted a ton of Orbital strikes) and Liberator Tailgun for life, so many solo reaver pilots thought they could take a libby with a crew on vent.
i wasnt the best at aiming but tank crews and pilots sure did love that lodestar showing up. |
